Chapter 17: Chapter 17 – This Old Auntie

“Auntie, you seem to be waiting for Young Master Di too. May I ask how you’re related to him?”
Xia Wei’an smiled and looked at the beauty in front of her, with a pair of innocent-looking large eyes. She suddenly remembered who the woman was. She was the actress Su Lu, who was rather famous lately. Xia Wei’an had watched the movies that Su Lu starred in before, and her acting chops were superb, so she remembered her.
“Who are you calling Auntie!?”
Su Lu was immediately exasperated after being called an auntie.
“Who are you calling Kid then?”
Xia Wei’an questioned, rolling her eyes in disdain and taking her cellphone out to read her messages, completely ignoring Su Lu.
Su Lu was boiling with fury. It had been long since anyone dared to speak to her with such a tone and attitude. If not for the fact that she had something more important to do today, she would have insulted Xia Wei’an to the point of crying!
Xia Wei’an saw through her peripheral vision that Su Lu was grimacing in anger. She couldn’t help but secretly rejoice and scroll through the unread messages before opening them.
It was a message from Aunt Li who roughly wanted to tell her that there was a maid role that would be suitable for her to play and wanted her to go to the set to see her in the next few days. She also emailed the address and lines of the role to her.
Aunt Li was her mother’s former agent, whom she had met a few times. Due to the fact that she wanted to be an actress, she asked Aunt Li to help her pull some connections. She remembered that Aunt Li had told her that she was more beautiful than her mother, but her acting talent was far inferior to her mother’s and so she wasn’t suitable for the industry.
However, she stubbornly pestered Aunt Li to the point that the latter had no choice but to occasionally offer her some insignificant roles that would only have a short screen time. Yet, she still couldn’t play them well.
In her previous life, she simply liked acting and wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps to help her mother attain her unfulfilled wishes of becoming the ‘Best Actress’ titleholder. But she didn’t study acting and was rather perfunctory with it. Aunt Li disliked her too, but she would still offer her some roles every now and then on the account of her mother.
She quickly replied to Aunt Li’s message and was in high spirits.
After marrying Di Xingchen in her last life, she had nothing to do other than eat and sleep. Hence, binge-watching dramas became a large part of her daily routine. When she got bored, she would start analyzing and studying the acting skills of the actors in the dramas she watched. The more she did so, the more she fell in love with it. She would often immerse herself in the scenes and feel the joy, anger, and sadness of each character. She was so invested in it that she would study their expressions and movements. Therefore, even though she had never acted before, she had her own opinion about acting. At the very least, she wouldn’t play the role of the maid too poorly.
After the message was sent successfully, she put away her phone, and as soon as she did, she heard the sound of the door opening in front of her. Four or five men with leather collars then entered and walked towards the elevator while talking and laughing.
At first glance, Xia Wei’an saw Di Xingchen who was among them right away. Hence, she stopped acting arrogant and stood up.
Before she even stepped forward, Su Lu who was beside her, beat her to it and walked towards Di Xingchen.
As soon as Di Xingchen left the office, he saw Xia Wei’an. He initially planned to treat her to a meal after the meeting. Upon sight of her, he turned around to instruct Assistant Ji to lead them outside while he walked towards Xia Wei’an.
On the other hand, Su Lu saw Di Xingchen walking towards her and quickly smiled sultrily. “Young Master Di, thank you for investing in my new movie. I deliberately came here to wait for you to express my appreciation and gratitude. May I have the honor of treating you to a meal to express my gratitude to you?”
