- Chapter 14 - The Villain Deceived Me That He Was The Male Lead Chapter 14
The County of Prussia where Robelia was born, is inherently born with magical powers. Those who inherited the blood of the family will start to develop magical abilities around the age of ten.
Robelia’s power isn’t that strong so all she could give Valdwin was a casting spell, but about Laila…. Wizards will soon be dispatched from the magic tower to measure Laila’s magic. Other people may not know, but Robelia could feel it. Laila, who was extraordinary since she was young, may be able to rise to the rank of an Archmage.
She was scared of the coming winter. When winter is over and spring comes, the children will move to a new world, not Lorovante.
“… Winter is coming.”
Robelia’s voice shook slightly.

It was late afternoon.
Valdwin was the one who woke up first between him and Laila who went to sleep late last night. He blinked his red eyes. Laila’s sleeping figure formed in his bright vision. Her bright silver hair was glittering under the sun. It was like a shower of starlight.
Valdwin held Laila’s hand carefully, “Lala.”
“Hnng….”
She was completely in a deep slumber. She wouldn’t wake up for most of the time. Laila used to sleep so well that no one would even notice her when she’s asleep.
Valdwin left Laila and went out of the bed. Snow was falling silently outside the window. Valdwin, who was holding the Caliburn and doesn’t get cold easily, snow was the weak Laila’s Achilles heel. Valdwin covered Laila with a blanket. He carefully opened the balcony door and stepped on the railing. Looking at the location of the sun, it was time to prepare dinner. The sun had yet to set but he could feel the busy movements of the people. It means that no one was watching Valdwin.
Valdwin dashed up the railing. His tiny and light body soon stepped on the tree in the garden and flew like a butterfly on the wall. His long black hair fluttered in the wind. It wasn’t difficult where the Caliburn crews were. The sharp blade of the sword stood erect and pointed where they were.
“Ah! Young Lord!”
Hiding in the shadows, they knelt as if rolling on the floor. Valdwin had already confirmed that there was no sign of movement around him. He smiled at them. In a soft, warm smile that resembles someone, the crew read his sharp expression like a blade.
“Get ready. I will be moving soon.”
Although his clear voice was still young, the pressure contained in it was indescribable. The members of the Caliburn instantly realized – Valdwin had completely inherited the Caliburn. Their worries because he was too young were all useless.
“Yes, Young Lord.”
They shuddered in Valdwin’s sweet voice.
“I will turn the sky upside down.”
He will avenge his father’s death engraved on his bones and point his sword to those who took away what he should have enjoyed – to survive.

Time couldn’t be stopped no matter how one tried. Empress Julia’s son was now crowned as Crown Prince. It was the end of the winter. It was because the power collected from the Winchester was too biased towards Queen Caitlyn. Emperor Lygos wanted a perfect balance, but everyone knew he was in a place where he could overturn it anytime.
And Laila.
“You can’t measure her magic!”
“Her awakening had begun!”
She awakened her magic. She took a completely different path than the original Laila.
‘Oh…? This is not it.’
Wasn’t I a supporting character? Laila’s doubts were buried in everyone’s astonishment.

The Duke and the Duchess sat face to face after putting the bewildered Laila in sleep. The candle in the room flickered on the Duchess’ brooding face.
“Robelia….”
“I couldn’t help but be afraid even though I was already expecting it,” Robelia whispered in a low voice.
She had imagined this moment countless times as she watched Laila grow up. Laila inherited the blood of the County of Prussia. Her bright silver hair and golden eyes that seem to embrace the light – it was the same as the first Prussia. None of her parents were born with it, but Laila was. It was an atavistic inheritance that flowed through her blood. So she had thought that this might happen one day – the sky might be turned upside down one of these days.
Their life depends on Emperor Lygos’ whims, and now even Leviathan’s power is skyrocketing. She heard that as soon as Queen Caitlyn heard that the Crown Prince was appointed, she went to visit Emperor Lygos every day to appeal. She would cry and swaying the Emperor Lygos. Just as Winchester’s fall was one of the Emperor’s whims, the Crown Prince could have changed anytime.
“You have to hide it as much as possible, honey.”
“I will try my best. I already told the priest. I also paid a huge donation.”
“I will protect the children as long as I can.”
Robelia clasped her hands. Valdwin and Laila were raised with love. I wish I could only lay a lower path for their future, but I know it’s impossible. Fate was pointing to Laila and Valdwin.
“I need someone to teach Laila her magic. I will have to write a letter to the Magic Tower… in secret.”
“Is there anyone who will help us?”
“I have some connection with the Magic Tower’s Master. We studied under the same teacher. I’m sure they will help me if they haven’t forgotten me yet.”
Wizards have a strong sense of unity. It was because they felt and saw things that ordinary people could not feel.
“May God have mercy on us.”
The Duke held Robelia’s hand and prayed. Robelia smiled faintly. She could endure because she had a husband who always supported her. Robelia kissed the Duke on the back of his hand.

Valdwin wheezed and gazed at Laila, who was still asleep, with a gentle gaze. Laila’s light was getting stronger. Anyone who sees the brilliant starlight in gold would be bewitched.
Valdwin sensed that Laila was born with magic as she inherited Prussia’s blood. That was because Caliburn whispered to him.
[‘That child is going to be a strong wizard – a wizard stronger than anyone.’]
Valdwin carefully stroked Laila’s hair. He felt like her silver locks were breaking between his fingers.
Valdwin will soon leave for the Knights Academy, and Laila will be left alone in the mansion. The Duke and the Duchess will surely do their best to protect Laila.
‘Not enough.’
Valdwin doesn’t want Laila to get hurt, even the tips of her fingertips. He would hide her in his pocket if he could.
Valdwin watched as Laila slept for a long time and then crossed the window again.
“Young Lord?”
With his long, fine black hair hanging down, Valdwin sat cross-legged on the wall. His white feet appeared through his pajamas. His feet were pink as if he didn’t feel cold at all.
“Caliburn will revolve around Laila from now on. Everywhere she goes and everything she does should be under Caliburn’s protection.”
His clear voice spread through the darkness. Valdwin set up another safety device for Laila. Caliburn will always be with Laila – even if he was away from Lorovante. Even Caliburn couldn’t give an answer to what Valdwin’s feelings are towards Laila.
But Valdwin felt that he had a certain emotion towards Laila that he couldn’t describe. Valdwin will be ruined in some way if he loses Laila. He was content with his present life with it on the border between comfort and risk – because Laila is around. She has become the standard for making Valdwin more human.
“You must protect her.”
Valdwin’s calm and determined voice met the eyes of the crew.
[‘…! Is she going to be our Duchess?!’
‘It’s too early.’
‘That’s Caliburn. She’s not just a kid.’
‘Is it?’
The conversation went about like that.]

“Haaam….”
Originally, it wasn’t me that was appointed to become the next successor of the Magic Tower but the Imperial Princess – Imperial Endia, Fidelo’s younger sister. Thanks to that, the Magic Tower had no choice but to raise Fidelo’s hand.
However, I got to play that role. I didn’t know how my life as the supporting role turned into the life of the main character in full bloom. I heard my eyes contained the light of Prussia… but I don’t see anything no matter how much I look in the mirror.
I yawned and looked in the mirror. I am pretty, but… hmm, how was Laila’s appearance described in the novel?
… Her pigmentation was rather light overall that’s why she’s pretty, but I think it was said that she doesn’t stand out when she stands beside Camilla.
(T/N: The chapter was quite heavy and a little time skip. I loved the relationship between FL’s parents, they loved each other dearly heart heart)
