Chapter 5
It was a fact that I learned secretly about it even while chasing after Valdwin, but drawing a magic circle wasn’t that different from creating chemical formulas. Will you be able to draw a magic circle if you create a magic formula through a proper combination of elements? That is why, it was no different than the process of designing a process based on chemical formulas.
Ugh, this is what a major disease is.
(T/N: ‘Major’ here refers to the course she had when she was in college. She studied about chemical engineering in her past life. )
I fell asleep while rummaging through the fairytale books beside Valdwin, who was reading a book again after eating snack. There was one more thing inconvenient about being young – not being able to read romance novels, my only hobby! At my mental age, Toto went on an adventure with his acorn! Should I be reading the same thing…?

The place he used as his reserved seat at the stud was by the sunny window. Laila approaches him when he sits down to a place where forsythia-colored sunlight poured down.
(T/N: Forsythia flowers are non-native shrubs grown for their yellow flowers that bloom in early spring. They mean ‘a deeper love’ in Korea.)
Valdwin turned around and looked at Laila, who was snoring at his knees. A smile spread across his face as he raised his book and blocked the sunlight for her.
“Who looks like a cat?”
In fact, it was Laila who fell asleep like a full-fledged cat in the warm sunlight.
Valdwin’s red eyes darkened.
The cute, ignorant, and foolish Laila. She was lying peacefully asleep not knowing what door she opened and what was inside it. Valdwin chuckled.
There was a reason why a Winchester’s head was able to awaken as a sword master from generation to generation and rise to fame. That is because Winchester’s direct heirs inherit their abilities and knowledge upon the death of their predecessors. They inherit the memory of the sword to be precise.
People say that Winchesters were born with good physical condition to train with sword, it wasn’t for any other reason. Winchester’s heads were called ‘Sword Demons’. They became an existence no less than the sword’s spirit after they inherit the sword. They live with a huge magical sword inside their body, and its name is ‘Calliburn’.
There were five knights who supported Rahaphilt Bendlrohaim when founded the Empire. Those five knights received swords from Rahaphilt, two which were broken and three remained. Those were Calliburn, Thirvyng, and Kalladvolg.
Among them was the great sword Calliburn that was inherited by the Winchesters, and was said to have killed dozens of knights in one single swing. Since Valdwin’s died shortly after he was born, he already inherited Calliburn’s knowledge and abilities. He could summon the sword whenever he wanted.
The reason he lived with books was so he would be able to organize his messy knowledge. He became a monster once he was born, but the innocent Laila didn’t know that. A bright, blackish-red color appeared on his fingertips when he was careless.
Valdwin clenched his fist and opened it. The red energy lingering on his hand disappeared. He gently stroked Laila’s silver hair scattered on her cheek. He felt her soft flesh on his fingertips when he brushed off her smooth hair.
‘Believe in me. I will protect you.’
Tiny, cute and insignificant. He had no idea what was this feeling right now, but he was certain with only one thing, and that is his determination not to let go of the warmth that touched his fingertips.
Valdwin smiled softly with a face disguised as innocence.

I sneakily approached beside Valdwin.
“Why?”
Valdwin was becoming more aggressive than arrogant as time went by. Of course, I often joked around him, so he became more vigilant. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t make fun of him anymore.
If you look at Valdwin’s figure, it was like looking at a cat with its upright fur that melts my heart. I sat beside him regardless of his vigilance towards me.
“What’s with you?”
I could see Valdwin’s sinister smile in his clear, pretty red eyes. Uhm, hmm, ehem! He quickly changed the way he smiled – with a smile that you can trust him just by looking at him.
“I have a wish, Valdwin.”
I was quickly able to speak long sentences clearly. It was very fortunate. Phew, those days that I was very frustrated because I couldn’t speak. You won’t know unless you’ve experienced it yourself.
Didi followed me quickly, as my mother said that it was his survival instinct – to survive from me. Sheesh, what did I do?
“A wish?”
“Yes. It’s my birthday today.”
“Lala’s birthday is in a month.”
Valdwin shot me a vigilant glance.
Ei, what an upsetting thing to say?
It’s true that my birthday is a month later and tomorrow is Valdwin’s birthday, but what does that matter? Your birthday is my birthday, and my birthday is my birthday.
“No, I have multiple birthdays.”
“Hey, that’s a lie!”
Valdwin leaned back.
“That’s true! Laila actually has multiple birthdays. Think about it, otherwise, why would Mom and Dad buy me a cake everytime?”
That’s because I like having cake. However, many children believe that a cake means birthday.
Why do we have that? You have to put a candle and blow it when you see a cake. And Valdwin was at an age where he still possessed such a cute sensibility. I nailed him as he showed signs of giving in.
“What is that? Didi won’t give me a gift? But Lala even prepared a gift for Didi!”
I then pouted my lips. Valdwin eventually raised his hands.
“… What do you want?”
You’re such a cute child. Noona doesn’t want much. Would you come over here?

“Is this your wish?”
The proud cat looked at me and I smiled sweetly at him. He’s getting prettier. I also put on a yellow pin that matched his yellow dress, and applied a pretty lipstick that I slipped from my mother’s dressing table.
I did my best even though my fingers were still short and clumsy. I didn’t make the same mistake of draping the dress loosely on him like before, but was tightly tied by a ribbon.
Fufu, you’re such a pretty male lead. My fan spirit is boiling. The dresses Valdwin usually wore were also pretty, but I cannot dress him up glamorously due to his status as the nanny’s daughter. Dressed up to my liking, Valdwin was so cute and lovable that my nose bled.
“Yes! This is Lala’s wish! Didi is so pretty.”
I wondered if dressing up Valdwin was fan service for me. Every day is exciting! This is the best!
Valdwin sighed deeply as my eyes twinkled.
“If Lala likes it… then I like it too.”
How can you speak beautifully? Are you saying that being pretty with such a rough personality like this is a big deal? Unbelievable.
The original novel started after the main characters had already established themselves. The three of them must have been around 15 years old at that time. In any case, Valdwin was following his set standards of indifference, being feisty, and being a tsundere.
Is he the type of the Prince in my dreams who is indifferent to everyone but is only kind to his woman? Well, the cold Northern Grand Duke is more suitable than him.
I thought that everything would be a pity. Given Valdwin’s personality, I would be out when that time comes. It feels like sending a son who I raised with so much care.
No, my own Prince might also appear at that time.
As I was circling Valdwin while admiring my work, Mom opened the door widely.
“Lala, Didi. Why were you quiet? Let’s go to today’s brunch – ”
What, is it today? So, today is the day I will meet the female lead! How in the world can there be no tension like this? I didn’t even know because Mom didn’t notify me.
Silent for a while, Mom looked at me then to Valdwin, before she blew out.
“Lala!!!!”
“Yes?”
“What did you do to Didi!!! Clothes aside, his face is a mess!”
“I didn’t do anything. Didi is pretty!”
I proudly boasted of my masterpiece. Valdwin circled the room with a proud expression on his face, as I told him earlier.
However, my mom’s thoughts were different from mine, as her forehead frowned and heaved a deep sigh.
“Why must it be a day like today… Lala, what did mom tell you! I said you shouldn’t touch my cosmetics! I won’t give you a present if you keep on doing this!”
That’s true. It’s a shame I still have a month before my birthday. My mom caught me in a hurry.
“Lala, hit! Hit! Will you keep on not listening to me?”
Is this real? Wow, this is my first time. I was humiliated by being slapped in my butt like this, but I was an adult who had already lived for over 30 years in my past life plus this life. I shouldn’t cry like th(is) –
“Uu, uuwaaaah! I-I hate Mom!!!”
… This was really irresistible.
There was silence in the dressing room when I burst into tears, who usually wouldn’t cry. Valdwin looked at me with a bewildered expression, and mom paused with her raised hands.
“O-oh? Lala, did Mom hit you hard? I didn’t, though…. Lala, I’m sorry, hmm?”
Surprised, my mother hugged me. Valdwin wiped my face with a hand full of cosmetics.
“Don’t cry, Lala. Drop!”
“Uuuh…. I-I hate you mom!”
“I heard you’ll get horns in your butt if you cry. That Mister Goblin will catch you.”
“Hic! Uuuwaaah…. Uuwah, das wat I tod yu!” (That’s what I said!)
There was a hesitant look on Valdwin’s face as he randomly wiped my face.
What is it?
Then Valdwin cocked his head and kissed my cheek.
