Chapter 16: Each Character Favorability Are Different
The Royal Magic Research Institute, our current workplace, is a research institute in the ‘Faygnance Kingdom’ that occupies a large land on the continent of Arlandast. It’s comparable to the National Center of Scientific Research on Earth.
It is a place to do what someone would often imagine as magic research, such as the reenactment of lost ancient magic by excavation, interpreting literature, or studying independent magic laws.
I was somewhat lacking in my knowledge as a wizard, but my ability to interpret ancient languages was fairly manageable that I’d ended up working in this department. It isn’t exactly my ability, but rather Senephin’s ability, but fortunately, after possessing her body, I could also conveniently use her ability or knowledge. The game setting is amazing~
Meanwhile, Lumins didn’t belong to a fixed department, but instead a fluid department depending on current important research tasks and seemed to repeat the experimentation and trial process of new magic laws until the laws are affirmed.
Although Velkina is still a trainee, she was receiving plenty of training to qualify as a full-time wizard so she could get recognition for her magical talent.
Like this, some of the researchers have great magical talents, like our Lumin and Velkina, while others are specialized in specific fields, like me, where the magic talent itself is insignificant.
In terms of researchers, the former is rare, and the latter are numerous. This is due to the fact that the differentiation is made by evaluating action magic talent, an aptitude for research, and the amount of mana they possess as well.
And our Lumins possessed all of these!
Also, one of the best things within the Magic Research Institute, other than the relaxing and idyllic atmosphere, was a restaurant that served delicious dishes.
I sighed as I headed to the restaurant for lunch after the morning shift.
I still don’t have any plans yet on how to destroy the crown prince’s flag and he’s going to be making an appearance soon.
For a women-oriented game taking place in Western fantasy, a prince is a must-have character. It can be said to be one of the key characters as well. And the prince is, of course, appearing in <Arlandast Saga>.
Calt Ashan Faygnance. It’s probably because the main lead Velkina is blonde, so rather than blonde, the Prince has black hair accompanied by a pair of red eyes. With that alone, isn’t it proof enough to say that he’s a dangerous man?
And if it’s not enough, this person also possesses that typical Playboy trait that you can usually find in games. While constantly pursuing and pestering Velkina, of course, there would be a twist with this kind of character where all the things he didn’t for her weren’t because he’d fallen for her, but rather because she was deemed worthy to be used.
Although some would probably have guessed just by this nuance-less explanation of mine, speaking truthfully, I actually felt this character pushed me into an uncomfortable position.
If I have to realistically speaking, it would be like this, “If you’re going to regret it, why did you hurt our Velkina in the first place?” or “Do we have to sacrifice our Lumins’ life to protect this guy?”. I hated it a little.
Despite my continuous grumbling about him, deep down I knew he was basically not a bad guy. And as a royal, he thinks of his country and his people first, but…
“No, you need to wake up!”
The sudden shout surprised Velkina, who was walking with her arms folded.
“Senephin, what’s wrong? Are you sleepy? Taking a nap might relieve your fatigue.”
Urk… I was so worried that I blurted out my thoughts without paying attention to my public appearance.
“Oh, oh-ho-ho. It’s nothing.”
Yeah, it wasn’t time for this. I have to raise Lumins’ favorability so Velkina could get onto Lumins’ route as soon as possible.
Soon Velkina and Lumins will leave this place and graduate as the first step in their adventure to save the world and depart for the capital. The shared route will soon be over. My task is to raise the level of favorability so there is no disruption during the entry to Lumins’ route until they leave for the capital.
It would be great if there was a window that popped up like it did when playing the game, but it gets hard for me because we don’t have that here. But I don’t intend to give up. I might not like how it goes because there’s nothing to help me. But there’s still little more time for me to do this! So I will work hard from now on.
“Velkina, go have lunch with Lumins. I’m going to go with Jean. I have some business with him.”
While winking, I loosened her arm that was clinging to my own.
“Huh? But I’m with Senephin…”
“Now, now. Don’t say no regarding this.”
I waved as I brought Jean, who was sitting on Velkina’s shoulder, to my arms.
“What’s going on? I can help you if you have some work left.”
Lumins, who was walking beside her, offered kindly to me.
Lumins…! Our Lumins is handsome and has a kind heart! But I don’t have time for this now!
“It’s really okay! Enjoy your meal with Velkina!”
I ran away quickly. I think I heard two people attempting to dissuade from behind, but I didn’t care to stay and listen.
Jean, who was in my arms, twitched his ears and spoke to me as I ran.
“Senephin, are you sure this going to be okay?”
“Eh?”
“She looked like she was going to cry.”
“…?”
I stopped running. I’d run away in a hurry and had ended up in front of the magic tower at this point.
“I’m just now getting to know you so I don’t know the details too well, but I heard you didn’t get along very well with Velkina?”
“Well, that’s…”
“You don’t want them to misunderstand and hate you again, right?”
“Eh?!”
