- Chapter 19 - The Villainess’s Daughter Is Getting an Obsession Chapter 19
“…my knee is fine now. Your Highness doesn’t have to worry so much.”
I felt like the tear would get longer, so I placed my hand on the hem of my dress and asked for consideration for his gaze. Then he looked surprised.
“I’m sorry. I think you got hurt badly because of me.”
“No, please feel free to talk to me, Your Highness.”
I smiled bitterly at the flustered look. Why are both of them so kind and fall for the trap? Still, riding in a spacious, luxury carriage made me feel a little more at ease.
However, upon arriving at the Imperial Palace, the problem arose again. I could walk with a limp, but I don’t think from the eyes of others that they will allow me to walk like that.
“They will be able to treat it soon, so hang in there. There are many eyes to see, so we will treat you in my palace.”
“Thank you, Your Highness.”
“All right. Excuse me for a moment.”
However, it would have reached my mother’s ears if I had refused his consideration. She even caused the accident, and who knows what would happen to me if I said, “I’m okay.”
Ugh.
“Then, please take care of me.”
He picked me up, hugged me, and started walking. He didn’t make much movement and moved slowly, considering my comfort. Still, it was a position and posture that I could never get comfortable with. Both from my body and my mind. As we moved, I saw a familiar person from afar.
“Brother, you’re here now.”
Unfortunately, I made eye contact with him. This is the palace of the first prince, but I don’t know why Valery is here. As soon as I turned my head, I immediately saw the face of the first prince, so there was nothing I could do.
“I haven’t seen you for a few days. Was that a big deal?”
“It can’t be a big deal…”
As soon as Valery blurted out his words, I was frightened for no reason. I don’t know why. Delkian, who felt Valery’s gaze on me, talked first.
“Ah, there was an accident on the way, and this young Lady was seriously injured.”
“Are you all right?”
“Ah… I’m all right.”
Valery’s face became pale, and his expression turned to concern at once. If anyone saw him like that, anyone would think I had broken a bone, not just a minor injury…
Valery took his eyes off me after a long time and asked,
“Brother, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. There was an accident while her carriage was dodging my carriage.”
“Still, I think it would be better for you to get treated as well. I will take the Lady and treat her.”
Valery held out his hands as if he would hold me right away. Delkian took a step back.
“No, it’s my fault, so I’m responsible for it.”
Delkian immediately refused. I’m sure he didn’t mean any harm.
“It’s okay, I’ll do it.”
“No, I’m fine doing it.”
Even after hearing his words, Valery didn’t move his outstretched hand and body. There was a moment of silence in that position.
I felt uncomfortable and wanted to go down and run somewhere. Getting involved with these brothers was really stressful, and I wanted to speak up first. As soon as I was about to say that I would just walk on my own, Valery opened his mouth a little faster.
“I’m acquainted with Lady Ariandel.”
Then Delkian raised his eyebrows and looked at me.
“Do you know each other?”
I finally felt like I could breathe, then nodded.
“…yes. I’m acquainted with the second prince.”
“That’s right, brother. So, don’t worry. I will take responsibility and take care of Lady Ariandel. Your Majesty has been looking forward to your return.”
Then Delkian, who hadn’t made a concession, took a step back.
“I see. Then my brother will take care of Lady well. I’ll take responsibility for what happened today.”
“That’s all right. Our side made a hasty move, and I’m just grateful for your concern.”
Delkian dropped me off, entrusted me to Valery, and greeted me.
I strengthened my legs to avoid walking limp. But a sharp pain spread across my knee. As Delkian was out of sight, I, who was left alone with Valery, was troubled for a while. My work for today seems to end here… but for some reason, I felt like I shouldn’t stay here any longer.
“Excuse me, Your Highness. I only hurt my knee a little, but the first prince misunderstood.”
Then his gaze turned to my knee, but there was nothing to see. My dress was a little torn and messed up, but my knee was wrapped around roughly with bandages. As he tried to hug me, I backed away without realizing it.
“You don’t like me that much?”
Why are you talking about it again?
“No, that’s not it. It’s just that I’m not seriously hurt.”
“I heard it was a carriage accident.”
“Yes, that’s true, but I only hurt my knee slightly…”
“Still, I don’t think I can just let you go. Let me see if you’re okay with my own eyes.”
If the two of us continued to argue about it, it might happen until sunset. I sighed softly.
“Then, please take care of me.”
Valery carried me tightly as if he had been waiting. I’m not even a baby, but what is this? Still, it was much more comfortable than when I was carried by Delkian earlier.
The place I was taken to was not his guest room but his palace. No wonder we walked for quite a long time. I was a little embarrassed because it was a place I came in without a plan.
Delkian said that there were a lot of eyes to see, so he stopped his carriage at a nearby place, but Valery came all the way here casually. Almost at the same time, the doctor came in and checked my condition. After checking my pulse and my condition, he talked to Valery.
“She’s in a state of shock from the accident. The wound can be healed immediately, but she will need to take some medicine for a few days. I will make the medicine right away.”
He looked very serious as he observed my wound.
“Will it leave a scar?”
“Fortunately, it’s not a deep wound, and as long as she gets treatment, it will be fine.”
“Is that so? Then treat her with all your heart.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
The doctor started treatment, but he was in great trouble as Valery was watching him with his eyes lit. I think the doctor probably had a cold sweat on his back. As the doctor was kneeling on one knee examining me, Valery watched us all the time.
“Ah.”
I involuntarily groaned when the doctor pressed a cotton pad coated with disinfectant into my open wound. It was tolerable until a while ago, but the medicine was so strong that it felt like it was digging into the wound.
“Does it hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt.”
“You just groaned.”
“It-It’s because it was cold.”
I just lied to the doctor for fear of getting scolded. He didn’t seem to believe it anyway.
“Hold on a little bit. If you hold it in until it’s over, I will do anything for you.”
His words were like talking to a child.
“What kind of kid am I that you treated me like this?”
As I rolled my eyes, he raised the corner of his lips as if he was holding back his laughter and turned his head. After the doctor finished the treatment, he prepared the medicine. I thought I could go immediately, but the doctor left Valery and me alone.
“The medicine will come soon. So… how did the accident happen?”
“I think our carriage was a little in a hurry, and the coachman saw the first prince’s carriage too late. So we avoided it. But I’m really okay. Even the doctor was surprised too.”
“Still, you have an open wound.”
“As long as it doesn’t leave a scar, it can be treated. Have you been busy all this time?”
I changed the topic because I thought he would be gloomier if we went deep into that topic.
“I’ve been a little busy. By any chance…”
“By any chance?”
He mumbled, so I looked at him, wondering what else he would say.
“Did you wait for me?”
I guess he thought I asked because I waited for him.
“Well, to a certain extent…”
Then he let go of the strength of his shoulder, which had been tense for a while and sighed.
“I was going to write a letter to Lady today.”
“Letter?”
“I said last time that I would take you to a nice place.”
“Ah… Your Highness doesn’t have to send me a letter now that you’ve seen me.”
“I would have been happy if Lady hadn’t been hurt.”
“Then, does it mean you aren’t happy right now?”
“Ah, it’s not like that.”
His quick correction made me burst into laughter. Soon the doctor returned and gave me a bundle of medicine and instructions. When I was surprised, they told me they would give me medicine, but the doctor seemed to have put all kinds of things that were good for my body.
I got up from my seat and handed a large medicine bag to Ian, who was following after me like a shadow from before, like a scarecrow. Every time I put strength on my legs, I felt pain, but it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t walk.
“I’ve got to go. Could you take me to the first prince? I couldn’t even say thank you to him.”
It wasn’t to see him again, but for ordinary nobles, since they were indebted to the imperial family, it was normal to see them and greet them unless the person who was indebted to them were dead.
“You don’t have to tell him in person. I will tell him.”
Valery seemed to have no intention of taking me to the first prince. He was already big, but he was like a big wall when he was blocking the road.
