- Chapter 23 - There Is No Need To Be Obsessed Chapter 23
The man, barely managing to open his eyes, approached me threateningly.
It seemed that there was not as much carbonation as I thought, and the damage was less than expected.
This would be difficult.
I was hoping that someone would discover the abnormal state of this place through the slightly gaped curtains.
However, people were all absorbed in dancing and showed no concern for this place.
To make matters worse, the man quickly closed the curtains separating the balcony and the main hall again.
“You b*tch…all I did was say how you look prettier than in the past, but you dare splash water at me?”
“It’s not water, it’s alcohol…”
“Shut up! Just you wait!”
At that, the man began to approach menacingly.
I looked around. There was no such thing as a proper weapon.
No, there was one.
I wriggled my hand under my dress so the man wouldn’t notice and took off one of my shoes.
It’s not a very high heel, but it’s a fairly hard shoe.
A blow to the stomach or philtrum would cause enough shock and buy enough time for me to escape.
I deliberately pretended to be defenseless and waited for him to come closer, so I could get a more accurate shot…
“What are you doing?!”
But my wish didn’t come true.
Light filled the dark space again. I then heard a man’s voice.
He was obscured by the jerk standing in front of me, but I could tell he was angry.
Leone?
At first, I thought it was Leone who found me.
No, I don’t think that’s him.
But I soon realised that wasn’t the case.
The voice was different.
Leone had a much colder and lower voice than that.
The current voice sounded angry, but somehow soft and warm. Like cotton candy…
“Duke-, duke Henness?”
The man’s voice was trembling, as if he was flustered.
“I will not stand still unless you get away from her this instant.”
“I’m-, I’m sorry!”
The man fled at once at his harsh words.
“…pathetic.”
I muttered as I looked at the back of the man who had just run away. Subsequently, I turned to look at the large hand that suddenly reached out in front of me.
“Are you okay? Are you injured anywhere?…. Take my hand and get up.”
“…”
I looked up at Heights Henness. There was concern in his deep blue eyes.
This man was quite…
“You’re quite kind.”
“Pardon…..?”
I lowered my tired eyes and put down the shoe I was holding tightly.
It was then that Heights realised the existence of the shoe, and his eyes shook.
He probably noticed that I was trying to take the man down with it.
I calmly put on my shoe, took Heitghts’s hand and stood up from my seat.
Actually, I didn’t need his hand, but it was no other than Heights Henness himself. And I thought it wouldn’t be bad to create a little connection.
I stood up and smiled at him.
“Thank you for your help. I was really in trouble…”
If he had shown up a little late, the man would have just rolled on the floor of the balcony, froth at his mouth.
But I didn’t have to say anything useless, so I kept it to myself.
“I’m quite amazed by the way. How did you find out and help me?”
I leaned back against the balcony railing and looked at him.
His gaze was slightly deflected from me.
“Come to think of it, we met eyes a lot today too.”
He looked like he knew me. He also made several attempts to approach me before this.
Was there any relationship between him and Eureia?
If there was a relationship that I was not aware of, it would be safe to point it out clearly.
“Do you know me?”
I was going to make a guess or figure it out myself, but I ended up choosing the regular method.
For some, this method may backfire, but after watching for a while, I had a feeling that it would be okay to push straight forward if it was duke Henness.
Since he looks nice.
At my words, Heights Henness’s shoulders shuddered slightly.
He seemed to be at a loss for a moment before making eye contact with me.
Blue eyes.
A man who looked like the embodiment of the sky itself as a whole.
He left a good impression on me.
“Milady, I…”
“…”
“I don’t know you.”
The answer that came out of his mouth was surprising.
“Then why did you keep watching me? How did you know I was in danger?”
His answer was contradictory.
He claimed he didn’t know me but his attitude said otherwise.
Does he have unrequited feelings for Eureia perhaps?
I thought that might be the case. Since Eureia Craycia was beautiful enough for any man to fall in love with her at first sight.
If he really fell in love with her at first sight, it’s not a bad thing.
He looked like he could be useful for business.
But the answer that came back was not that.
“By chance…”
“By chance….?”
“I came across this by chance. I saw the man follow the lady, so…”
“By chance, you say…”
I giggled.
This man…
…is not good at lying one bit.
The pupils that I met with were fluttering. He didn’t look straight at me.
The man’s lies were so obvious.
From the look of it, Eureia and Henness did not seem to know each other.
And that was all.
It meant there was nothing to be bothered about.
This man, Heights Henness, was someone I would have a lot of ties with once I became the Guild’s owner.
There was nothing wrong with leaving room for a relationship in advance.
As soon as I asked how he came to help me, Heights’ confidence shrank a little.
I smiled at him. Just in time, a breeze swept through my hair.
“…”
Heights’s expression looking at me was a little dazed.
It seemed that the beauty effect I secretly used on him worked.
I acted naturally and said.
“Then how about this?”
“What are you talking about?”
Heights asked back one beat slower.
“Your Grace helped me this time, so next time please give me a chance to reciprocate your kindness as well.”
“What does that mean…?”
“I’m saying I’m going to repay the favour. But since I can’t repay the kindness at will, so when the time comes in which you really need help, please give me the opportunity to return the favour. What do you think? It’s not a bad proposal, is it?”
I took a step closer and stood next to him.
Heights’ blue eyes, which were looking down at me from right above, were trembling.
