Chapter 17: He Drove Her

At five o’clock there was still half a bag of solution left. Qifeng came in and poured a glass of water for Gu Xiang and said, “Drink some water.”
“Thank you.” Gu Xiang took the water, raised her eyes, and glanced at Qifeng. He was a neat boy and he was work attire that was commonly seen in hospitals. He looked gentle.
Gu Xiang drank some water. Seeing that he was standing by the side, she said, “You can get on with your work. Don’t worry about me, it will be over soon and I will go back after.”
“But President Jiang wants me to watch over you.”
“You can’t waste time on me. Go work, I’ll be fine.” She was not used to being watched like this.
Qifeng stared at her and explained, “My job is to do whatever President Jiang wants me to do and my current task is to watch over you.”
Gu Xiang couldn’t help but get frustrated. He was really treating her like a criminal!
She coughed and asked helplessly, “Then when will President Jiang be done with his work?”
Seriously, if he is busy, that’s fine. Yet, he had to get someone to watch over me. It can’t be that he specially got someone to keep her company, right? Is he really so concerned?
Gu Xiang recalled his cold face and denied the thought very quickly.
Him? How could it be?
After going back and forth with Qifeng for a long time, Jiang Chi finally returned from his meeting. He had already changed out of his work attire and was wearing his casual clothes. He looked a lot more handsome in a suit.
Gu Xiang had finished her IV and was dabbing the insertion site with a cotton swab. The nurse wanted her to rest before getting up.
Jiang Chi told Qifeng, “You can go first. I’ll return first today.”
Qifeng was surprised. Usually President Jiang returned at around 8 to 9pm on work days. Yet he was leaving so early today? He looked at Gu Xiang. She looked rather neat but President Jiang would never be lured by beauty. He felt that something was off.
Soon, Qifeng left and Gu Xiang rested for awhile before leaving the hospital with Jiang Chi. As she was not feeling well, she had called a taxi to come here. At the moment, she could only take Jiang Chi’s car home.
He was a person who kept a low profile and he was not very particular about cars. He drove a BMW X7, which was very spacious. In fact, this model has always been Gu Xiang’s ideal type as it made her feel safe. But to her, cars that cost over a million were too much of a luxury so she could never buy one.
Gu Xiang opened the door and got in the car. Jiang Chi put his phone in front and asked, “Where do you live?”
He thought that she was still living at home and he had never been to the Meng’s house. Hearing that, Gu Xiang recalled that she had already moved out of the Meng family. Now the only place that she could go to was the store.
Gu Xiang gave him the address to her store and Jiang Chi drove there immediately. Along the way, the two barely spoke as they were still rather unfamiliar with one another.
They reached the store in twenty minutes. Jiang Chi’s car stopped where Gu Xiang pointed and he looked out the window. This was the shopping district and clearly not a residential estate. There was no way that Gu Xiang lived here.
He looked at Gu Xiang. “Do you stay here?”
“My store is here.” Her fashion apparel store was just beside them.
The logo was green and the store was called, “A Place Where I Miss You.”
The words ‘Miss You’ were in large font and very obvious to the eye.
Compared to other shops, the name of their store was different. At a glance, it looked rather strange but it created a rather good contrast.
“Thank you for giving me a ride here.”
