Chapter 22: Prodding Her Into Action

Gu Xiang entered the bathroom with the clothes and took a shower. She had slept at the store last night and had not showered. Furthermore, she had been running between many places today.

When she walked out of the bathroom, she was wearing Jiang Chi’s clothes. His T-shirt was very long, so it looked like a dress on her. After taking a shower, she lay on the bed. Just then, she thought of Jiang Chi. If she was sleeping in his room, where was he sleeping?

Jiang Chi was a workaholic. Sometimes he even slept on the couch in his office the entire night. Right now, he was resting on the living room couch. It was too troublesome to tidy up the guest room. He was too lazy for that. He was reading a medical textbook. However, he could not stop thinking about Gu Xiang.

For a long-time single man like him, he felt somewhat odd when there was a woman in his house even though they were not together.

He put the book down and lay down in an attempt to fall asleep but he was still awake at 2am. This was really unlike his usual self who would knock out the moment his head touched the pillow.

The bedroom door creaked open and Gu Xiang walked out.

She had been suppressing her thirst for very long. She really wanted to drink some water. When she walked out of the bedroom, she saw Jiang Chi on the couch. The table lamp beside him was still lit.

The moment she came out, his deep gaze landed on her.

Gu Xiang said, “I want to drink some water.”

After saying this, she went to look for a cup. Jiang Chi remained on the couch as he watched her hover in front of him in his clothes. He was not very interested in women. To him, men and women were the same. They were just patients.

However, unknowingly, some part of his heart went haywire as he watched her walk around the house.

After Gu Xiang quenched her thirst, she looked back only to find out Jiang Chi was watching her. She said, “You should sleep soon.”

Thereafter, she walked into the bedroom, closed the door, and drifted back to sleep.

In the morning, when Gu Xiang opened her eyes, she was greeted by Jiang Chi’s back. He was changing his clothes in front of the mirror.

Tying his tie, he glanced at her in the mirror. Gu Xiang sat up immediately and said, “Good morning.”

Jiang Chi said, “Go and move your belongings over here later. You can stay here for a few days. After you have recovered, I’ll let you get your own house.”

“I have already recovered.” When Gu Xiang spoke, she realized that her voice was hoarse.

Although her fever had subsided, she had not fully recovered.

Upon hearing her voice, Jiang Chi suddenly laughed. “Why? Are you scared to move in here and live with me? Are you afraid that I will do something to you? Don’t worry, my standards are high.”

Gu Xiang was speechless. She knew that he was just prodding her into action. But what did this man mean by that? Where was she lacking?

She looked at Jiang Chi and rebutted, “That’s not entirely impossible. Judging by my looks and figure, most men would not be able to resist my charms… Unless… He is incapable.”

She purposely emphasized the last three words.

Jiang Chi was silent.

She scanned the lower half of his body. “Mr. Jiang, there have not been any women beside you for so many years… Are you sure you are still capable in that aspect?”

Throughout all these years, Gu Xiang had already learned how to prevent herself from losing out. If someone bullied her, she would surely return the favor doubly. This scumbag was looking down on her for having no charm. She was not a vegetarian. She knew what men were most afraid of and she wasn’t afraid to target it.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chi loosened his tie immediately.

He approached her. Seeing that Gu Xiang was about to get out of bed, he pushed her back onto the bed. “Does Ms. Gu want to see whether or not I’m capable?”
