Gu Xiang followed Bai Wei’s gaze. She saw a tall, young male doctor standing there. He was wearing a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck. His eyebrows were well-shaped and he had really deep eyes. However, he seemed to be impatient with the people speaking to him.
She did not really take notice of the man. There were many good-looking men out there and they had nothing to do with her. The person that she really took notice of was the middle-aged man who was speaking to the doctor.
Isn’t that Old Du? Why is he here?
Seeing how intently Gu Xiang was looking, Bai Wei teased her. “What’s wrong? Since you’re interested, why not add his WeChat?”
Gu Xiang said, “Nothing, let’s go eat! Are you hungry? What would you like to have?”
It was way past lunchtime but they were held up because of Xia Wenxuan’s drama. Although she had registered her marriage, Gu Xiang did not really want to meet people from the Jiang family.
However, just as they were about to leave, Old Du noticed her. He bowed at her respectfully. “Madam.”
Gu Xiang couldn’t say anything in response.
Old Du smiled like a caring mother. “Why are you at the hospital? What a coincidence!”
Gu Xiang replied tepidly, “I had an errand here.”
When she was replying, she could sense Bai Wei sizing her up with an odd glance.
“If I knew that you were coming to the hospital I would have given you a ride.” Old Du smiled. “Oh right, Mr. Jiang is here too! You guys can meet each other.”
Mr. Jiang? Gu Xiang instinctively looked at the young male doctor beside Old Du. This was her… husband?
She had thought that it would probably take some time before she met him. Gu Xiang, who previously thought that he was just a passerby, quickly stole more glances at the doctor. She realized that he was sizing her up too. However, his beautiful eyes seemed to be nitpicking.
Hearing Old Du’s words, Jiang Chi began sizing Gu Xiang up too. It turned out to be her! He had been in the crowd when she had approached the mistress and slapped her.
The act etched vividly in the minds of everyone on the spot.
However, he only had one comment for her actions: reckless.
Old Du stood to one side and said to Jiang Chi, “Third Master, now that you’ve met Madam, why not go have a meal together?”
Old Du looked forward the most to keeping up with their relationship.
Jiang Chi shot a glance at Gu Xiang before looking away coldly. “Not free.”
Seeing him like this, Old Du knew that he was not very satisfied with the marriage and quickly added, “Third Master, don’t be like that. You know that this is Old Master’s will.”
Jiang Chi said lightly, “Since you’re the one who married her, it’s natural that you should be responsible for her.”
“What are you talking about?” Old Du was speechless. “Your grandfather is doing this for your own good.”
“I still have matters to attend to in the afternoon.” Jiang Chi did not speak further and simply walked away.
Watching him, Old Du sighed helplessly. He did not expect Jiang Chi to fumble the ball after appeasing Gu Xiang.
Old Du coughed. Afraid that Gu Xiang would be unhappy, he quickly said, “Mr. Jiang is just like this. He is introverted when he meets strangers. Madam, please don’t take it to heart.”
“Introverted?” Gu Xiang was full of doubt. “Are you sure that he wasn’t trying to ignore me?”
Gu Xiang thought nothing much about Jiang Chi’s reaction. In fact, she had expected it. After all, it was clear that he was reluctant to see her since he sent Old Du to register the marriage for him.
Gu Xiang’s candor terrified Old Du. “No, it’ll be better next time.”
Seeing that he was trying to explain, she calmly said, “Never mind, I don’t mind it. We’ll head off first.”
It was fantastic that she did not need to eat with him! She would have needed to think about how to deal with him otherwise.
