Chapter 56: History Is Always Surprisingly Similar
Before Chinatsu Chiyuki could speak, Kitagawa Tera pointed at the long bench by the side calmly. “Sit.”
Seeing how they had something to discuss, Asamiya Hitomi bowed and left with a sigh of relief.
Asamiya Hitomi had yet to figure out why her daily lunch break was gradually becoming a routine stroll in the courtyard with Kitagawa Tera.
Although the feeling of strolling was indeed good, she always appeared slightly introverted and nervous, not daring to utter a word as she followed behind Kitagawa Tera.
Therefore, strictly speaking, Chinatsu Chiyuki’s arrival gave her an excuse to leave.
Asamiya Hitomi gave her a grateful look.
“????” Chinatsu Chiyuki felt puzzled about the gratefulness in Asamiya Hitomi’s eyes.
However, she did not delve into this matter. She knew exactly who she was looking for.
Kitagawa Tera…
Chinatsu Chiyuki took a deep breath, her eyes twinkling as she looked at the youth sitting beside her.
Kitagawa Tera had left too fast yesterday, and she had many lingering doubts in her mind that she had yet to ask.
Noticing Chinatsu Chiyuki’s gaze, Kitagawa Tera turned toward her and said in an unperturbed manner, “You can ask, but I won’t necessarily answer you.”
“… Isn’t that the same as not answering?” Chinatsu Chiyuki could not but smile.
However, she also knew Kitagawa Tera’s temperament, so she did not linger too long in its details. She sorted out her emotions and asked solemnly, “Is Risa really all right now?”
Despite Kitagawa Tera saying it yesterday, Chinatsu Chiyuki still wanted to hear it from him again.
It seemed as though this inquiry could increase her feeling of security.
However, Kitagawa Tera frowned and asked indifferently, “If you don’t believe me, why ask me?”
Yes, Kitagawa Tera had done what he believed was his best, doing all he could to save Tsukishima Risa.
However, Chinatsu Chiyuki asking this question obviously meant that she did not really trust him.
If this was the case, there was nothing to talk about.
Kitagawa Tera started moving, wanting to leave.
“S-sorry, Kitagawa-san! I was presumptuous! I shouldn’t have asked such an impolite question! I hope you can forgive me.” Chinatsu Chiyuki finally realized how impolite she was to have said that. She hurried in front of Kitagawa Tera and bowed deeply.
“…” Kitagawa Tera.
Kitagawa Tera could roughly understand the worry that the family members of a patient felt for the patient’s condition.
Kitagawa Tera shook his head. He stopped moving forward and said flatly, “The result is as you saw yesterday. Tsukishima Risa is already fine. Your job now is to consider what sort of nourishments you should buy for her to help her weak body after school rather than wasting time on me.”
Kitagawa Tera continued, “Next, you’re probably going to ask about my powers. But I really have nothing to say about this issue. I will accept similar jobs based on the situation in the future. You should do your part well instead of being concerned about this.”
His words caught Chinatsu Chiyuki by surprise. She felt as though he was a senior directing a junior.
“M-My own part?”
Her part was undoubtedly her responsibility as the president of the student council.
Indeed, in the past couple of days, she had gradually deviated from her goal of ‘building a better student council’ and put all her energy onto Kitagawa Tera.
“… I understand.” Chinatsu Chiyuki looked tense for quite some time before she finally heaved a sigh of relief and bowed to Kitagawa Tera again.
“Thank you, Kitagawa-san.”
If the bow just now was to apologize for being rude, then this bow was to thank him with the admiration of a little girl.
It was because Kitagawa Tera was directing her just now.
Just as he said, it would be a waste of time even if she were to spend more energy on Kitagawa Tera. It would only deepen her understanding of him. As long as Kitagawa Tera did not want to reveal the source of his powers, what could she gain?
She would still be ignored by Kitagawa Tera or maybe even be treated as a nuisance. This would not be worthwhile.
As the student council president, Chinatsu Chiyuki had important things to do. It was simply too foolish to spend her energy on things that she would not be able to understand.
However, Chinatsu Chiyuki did have something else she wanted to ask.
She straightened her spine again and was unable to hide the curiosity in her eyes. “Why did Kitagawa-san show your powers in front of me without any hesitation? Logically speaking, shouldn’t you hide such powers?”
Was this not the case in movies and TV shows? Someone with extraordinary powers would usually hide among ordinary people and only show themselves to save the day when disaster struck.
As serious as Chinatsu Chiyuki might be, she actually had a minor hero complex. Therefore, she could not understand Kitagawa Tera’s action of exorcising the grudge in front of her yesterday without skipping a beat.
Isn’t Kitagawa Tera afraid of his secret leaking?
She could not resist thinking so.
Facing this question, Kitagawa Tera kept mum. He looked hard at her before replying, “You are asking the same question someone else had.”
Asking the same question someone else had?
Chinatsu Chiyuki was even more puzzled now. She wanted to say something else, but the slightly strange voice of Kitagawa Tera disrupted her. “If you want to spread it, I don’t have any opinions. No one will believe it anyway.”
Er…
The cheeks of Chinatsu Chiyuki, like Kamiya Mirai, reddened from Kitagawa Tera’s breezy words.
“No other questions?” Kitagawa Tera asked again.
“N-no more. I’ll take my leave now, Kitagawa-san.” Chinatsu Chiyuki nodded, and her pace accelerated.
Even a few minutes after escaping from Kitagawa Tera’s sight, Chinatsu Chiyuki could still feel the heat on her face.
She did not even take into account the most basic issue and was even being delusional. How shameful!
She patted her cheeks hard.
“…” Kitagawa Tera.
Kitagawa Tera did not bother anymore about Chinatsu Chiyuki. He took out his phone, looked at the time, and made his plans.
Chinatsu Chiyuki’s issue was settled. He would request for leave in the afternoon, pack some clothes, and board the high-speed bullet train directly to Iwate Prefecture. Thereafter, he would transfer onto a bus to Hassan City.
Kitagawa Tera’s eyes flashed, a rare wave rolling in his heart.
“Hassan City, huh…” he murmured.
Perhaps he would encounter a new type of wraith this time?
How could that not cause ripples in his emotions?
