Chapter 31: Brad, Are You a Demon?!
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Downstairs of Highland International, Susan opened the door and saw the Phaeton parked not far away.
Her gaze was filled with the leisurely figure of a man in a suit leaning against the car with his legs crossed. Not knowing how long he had waited, he held a cigarette between his fingertips. The white mist hovered around him. The sun was scorching but it couldn’t be compared to the light on his body.
Susan walked slowly and her gaze shifted from the man’s fingertips to his clean and handsome face.
At this moment, all the grievances that had accumulated in her heart recently gradually dispersed. It was like there was a warm winter sun after the clouds were lifted that warmed the damp corners of her heart.
Susan’s gaze became as gentle as water and her eyes shone. She looked at the man in the eye. She stood in front of him and asked softly, “Have you been waiting for long?”
Brad put out his cigarette and threw it in the bin. Seeing Susan’s thin jaw and bony shoulders, his thick eyebrows frowned. “No. Why have you slimmed down?”
Susan’s eyes were as bright as stars. She stretched out her hand to measure her waist. She smiled. “Really?”
Her cheeky actions and tone fell into the man’s deep eyes. He reached out and lightly pinched her delicate face. He said softly, “Yes!”
Susan pursed her lips and she couldn’t hold back the smile in her heart.
She inexplicably felt very happy.
When their eyes met again, she asked the doubt in her heart. “How did you know I was here?”
She was puzzled regarding this question.
In their recent interactions, she always had a feeling that she was being watched.
It seemed like no matter what she did, this man before her could know everything accurately.
She didn’t hate it, but she was very curious about how he did it.
Brad seemed to be in a good mood. His thin lips curved up. “You want to know?”
“Yes!”
“Get into the car first.”
Susan was ‘fooled’ by Brad to get into the car. After taking a seat, she stared at him with her watery eyes.
She looked like she wanted to know everything.
Brad sat in the driver’s seat. As soon as he fastened his seatbelt, he saw, from the corner of his eye, her beautiful pair of eyes looking at him unscrupulously.
The man’s eyes darkened and the smile on his lips deepened. He stretched out his long arm in front of her. With the close distance, her ears could feel his breath, which carried with it the clear smell of tobacco.
Susan was suddenly nervous. She couldn’t help but stiffen. The numb itch by her ear penetrated her skin and spread to her body, making her hold her breath and want to restrain this sudden ambiguity.
With a click, the seatbelt was locked. When the distance was pulled away, Susan secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
At this moment, none of her reactions could be hidden from the man’s sharp eyes.
He liked her trying her best to hide her shy look. She was like a delicate mimosa which people couldn’t help but want to tease.
Susan grabbed her seatbelt. Her eyes seemed to be looking at the front, but they were actually flashing.
“Where… are you taking me?”
After five minutes of driving, Susan regained her rationale and voice.
All she could detect in her nose and heart was the smell of this man next to her, burning her calmness away.
“Tonight is the Quin’s Anniversary Dinner Banquet. Accompany me to attend it.”
Brad turned the steering wheel skillfully and his thin lips uttered this sentence. Susan was shocked. “Is this appropriate?”
“Why not?!”
Susan was speechless.
She muttered in her heart and a trace of dilemma flashed across her pretty face. It wasn’t that she wasn’t willing to attend the banquet with him. It was just that she wasn’t ready to appear in front of others together with him.
Coincidentally, the lights turned red and the car came to a stop steadily. Brad’s gaze was dark and he said in a low voice, “If you don’t want to, why don’t we go get the certificate now since we have time?!”
Susan’s heart skipped a beat. A trace of panic flashed past her eyes. She gave a dry laugh. “Let’s go to the banquet then. I’m just worried that I wasn’t given advance notice to prepare and would embarrass you.”
Brad, are you a demon?!
