- Chapter 2 - Time-limited Saintess, You’ve Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again Chapter 2
She was worshiped and admired by all. As the saint, she protected the world from all evil. On the outside, everything seemed to be smooth, but she suffered a lot on the inside.
Though anyone would feel that way.
…It was because Elena became a saint in order to die.
A few years after becoming the saint, she read her book of Revelation. The content was simple. The day Elena turned twenty-five, the world would be destroyed. She had to give herself to the world as a chosen saint — God’s representative — begging God for mercy to defeat all calamity.
However, she did not run away. If it were her duty as the saint, she would gladly accept it. This was the price she paid for being loved by her world after losing her parents.
For the rest of her life, she was suffering. Of course, her life was not easy because everything did not go as planned. She had to extinguish her desire, and she had to fake her emotions being the saint. Before she knew it, she considered herself as the ‘saint’ like a machine. She began to make only the decisions that the saint had to make, instead of what ‘Elena’ wanted.
And, the year turned twenty-five, she was burned in flames.
…That was how her life ended.
The flames climbed up her body and greedily devoured her, and she screamed in pain. Then, the divine power that had been in her body erupted and began to heal the world.
Screaming in pain she thought, like a saint, that she had no regrets.
…No, does she really have no regrets?
Elena pondered.
There was so much to regret.
…Failing to stop the excessive loyalty of the Paladin Maynard, not being able to stop the wrath of Pope Erich, and… failing to convince Arkan, the tyrant who had kidnapped her. There were many options… She had many options. However, it was she who drove everything to ruin.
‘And… I have never lived as myself.’
…Yes, she lived only as the Saint, not as Elena. As she thought of her regrets she should not have dared to have, the flames that fluttered its red tongue greedily devoured her.
And so, the Saint was engulfed by fire.
At that time, Elena was obviously burned to death… No, she was sure she should have died.
“Then, why am I here…?”
Elena mumbled with a confused face, glancing around her. A shabby yet strangely familiar room, different from her own room where she woke up every morning.
“…This is the house I used to live in.”
It was the house she lived in before she became the Saint.
…But now, why was she here?
She could still remember the pain, the moment she stopped breathing. Nevertheless, why was she here, alive…?
The next moment, she glanced at her own hands and feet. Her white, fine arms were as clean as if claiming that they had never touched the flames.
“Did God really save me?”
Looking down at her own body, she felt something strange. Her hands and feet looked oddly smaller than before.
“What’s going on?”
Rising from her seat, she approached the mirror. The reflection in the mirror showed a much younger appearance than Elena had just before she died. Cheeks plump from baby fat, her face was also young.
“I— What happened?”
Elena stared at her face in the mirror with a blank expression. She thought she was dead, yet she lived. In addition, she also looked much younger than before she died.
“Did I… get younger?”
