- Chapter 8 - Time-limited Saintess, You’ve Been Caught by the Tyrant Once Again Chapter 8
Ellin shuddered with joy, and her eyes lit up. She could not help but smile. Because his dark blue long hair fluttered in the wind, his features—with smooth and elegant lines—were more clearly visible. The vermilion eyes resembling the glow of the sunset drew soft arcs.
Behind the young man in a white robe, priests were following.
It was the High Priest, Erich.
“I greet the Saint who received the words of God.”
Ellin almost greeted him back as a habit as Enrich greeted Liliana politely. Liliana and Maynard both greeted him back the next moment.
“Greetings to High Priest Erich.”
He was the one who stayed with Elena until the very end.
He was one of the priests who came to greet her, the Saint, as he was also her supporter who took care of her on her side along with Maynard. Later, as the Pope, he became somewhat heartless, but he was still her best friend.
“Then, why are you stopping us?”
Erich responded softly to Maynard’s blunt words.
“I was telling you to stop trying to take the girl who’s here now.”
“She has invaded the sanctuary of the Saint. She deserves to be dealt with by law.”
“Isn’t Sir Maynard truly upright as always?”
When Erich glanced at Liliana as if seeking her consent, Liliana nodded her head as if possessed. Then, he gazed at Ellin and smiled.
“As the Saint said, what’s there to find out about a woman who has no power?”
“She might be a spy sent by the Imperial Family…”
“Shh. I’m not talking like that. Don’t say things like that. Can’t you see that both the Saint and the Young Lady here are frightened?”
Erich sneered and laughed.
Unlike Maynard, he remained the same. Erich was kind, delicate, and friendly.
“Unfortunately, this person is not a spy.”
“What do you mean?”
“She’s just a candidate who took the Angelia exam. You know that I’m the one who manages the examination, right?”
Ellin widened her eyes at his word. Did he know about her?
“The Angelia exam? But, Angelia…”
When Liliana stretched her words as if uncomfortable, Erich smiled brightly.
“Yes, It’s usually a ‘noble’ young lady. However, before God, everyone is equal. We often give exams to provide opportunities to commoners who are knowledgeable. She’s also a successful candidate. Now, only the final test remains.”
Liliana struggled to show her smile. Erich, who saw it, glanced back at Ellin and asked.
“Young Lady, did you pray to the Darzacq statue earlier?”
Startled, Ellin stared at him. This meant that he had been watching her since she came in and hid earlier.
‘Why did he ask that?’
As she thought so, she still answered him truthfully.
“Yes…”
“Why is that?”
“I’ve heard the legend that if Dazak watches over you, luck will come. It was said that Saint Dazak had the ability to give you small fortunes…”
“Yes, that’s right. Dazak was actually a poor, petty thief, and he used to bless the poor and hungry. Its history isn’t very well known, but you’re quite knowledgeable.”
Erich smiled warmly.
At that, Ellin’s cheeks flushed red. It was just the knowledge that she learned when she came here.
“Unlike the Saint who still couldn’t memorize the statues of the saints in the temple.”
Adding his words, he then looked at Liliana with a playful expression and she was startled.
“The Saint is already devoting herself.”
Maynard furrowed his face, defending Liliana.
“Oh, no. As the High Priest Erich said, I’m still lacking. As the Saint, I’m ashamed.”
“It’d be nice if the Saint could reveal her divine power. So, please do your best, Saint. Even in the temple, I’m always concerned about you.”
“I’m sorry.”
As Liliana nodded her head with a blushing face, Erich raised one corner of her mouth. It looked as if he was sneering.
‘…Was it an illusion? What did I just see?’
While Ellin was thinking about what she had seen, Erich turned to her this time. Again, a gentle smile lingered on his lips.
“Ah, do you know anything else about the statue in the temple?”
When he asked with a faint encouraging expression on his face, Ellin murmured back.
“Where the Pope lives, there’s a statue of Sephit. And, where the priests study, there’s a statue of Angela. In addition…”
She began explaining the statues in each area and their meanings. This time, Erich had a slightly surprised expression on his face. He probably did not expect Ellin would know so well either.
“Oh, my. It doesn’t make any sense to kill a person like this for taking the wrong path, does it now??”
“….”
“Rather, we should give her a chance to serve the Saint, shouldn’t we?”
‘Hold on, Erich…!’
He laughed and finished his words as Ellin was about to say something.
“I think I should make you an Angelia.”
