But Jian Sangyu was a bit surprised to see everyone waiting for her in the living room. None of them had touched the food.
“Here you are, Sis.” Jian Jialang stood up the moment he heard the sound of door opening. Then he laughed with hand over stomach. “Finally, you are here, I am starving to death.”
“Mom said that Sangyu would have been stuck in the traffic jam so we could eat first. You were the one that insisted on waiting for her and now you are the one complaining too!” Jian Jiayue snapped next to him, looking displeased. Then she stood up and followed Mother Jian into the dining room.
Jian Sangyu put down her purse whilst Jian Jialang slowed down his steps and mumbled to Jian Sangyu. “Sis, ignore her. She asked mom to get you to come home for lunch. She seems to be up to something. She claimed to want to eat lunch with you, but if she was sincere, she would have called you earlier!”
Jian Jialang watched Jian Jiayue who took a sudden look back at him and pretended as if he had not seen her glaring at him. Then he continued to whisper to Jian Sangyu. “Do you think she is crazy or something? She wanted you home for lunch and yet she refused to wait for you. So selfish as if the entire world owed her 100 million yuan or something.”
Jian Sangyu raised her hand to massaged Jian Jialang’s head, pressing down his unkempt hair and making it flat. Jian Jialang must have just got up from bed and failed to comb his hair up into his usual hairstyle.
“Oh, is Dad home?” Jian Sangyu thought of Father Jian’s car in the garage and asked. “Is he out on business?”
“Yes, he is out on business in the south for a few days. He left this morning.”
Jian Sangyu pursed her lips. She knew that Jian Jiayue would call her when father was not around.
And Jian Sangyu had already got an idea of what she was up to.
After she signed the contract last night, what Gu Chen said must have irritated Jian Jiayue.
After all, Jian Jiayue had already had eyes upon what belonged to her for a very long time. According to Jian Jiayue, she just couldn’t wait to get all the things that should have belonged to her.
Jian Sangyu had not thought about holding onto the shares. That was why she agreed to come by after receiving the call.
The moment they came to the dining table, Jian Jiayue asked Jian Jialang, “What were you whispering about?”
“I won’t reveal the secret words I said to my Sis. They are secret words after all, right?” Jian Jialang answered with a smile, refusing even to find any other excuse to make her back off.
Jian Jiayue was slightly surprised. She was obviously displeased by Jian Jialang and Jian Sangyue.
Jian Jialang had not called her as Sis Jiayue before and he had always been calling Jian Sangyu Sis. Jian Jialang was in a very close relationship with Jian Sangyu so he would always have fun with her. However, the attitude Jian Jialang held towards her was always full of a touch of superficial courtesy.
No, he was not even being courteous.
Jian Jialang had obviously been taking Jian Sangyu’s side when it came to herself and Jian Sangyu.
The dishes were still being kept hot in the kitchen, so as soon as they came to the table, the nanny had brought out the dishes from the kitchen. Mother Jian served a bowl of soup for Jian Jiayue, and then pinched a chicken leg for Jian Jialang before getting a bowl of rice for Jian Sangyu. Then she said to Jian Sangyu.
“Sangyu, I remember that Teacher Xiaole is in a good relationship with you, isn’t she? Teacher Xiaole has just won an international grand prize. Do you know about this?” Mother Jian asked.
“Oh, really? I never pay attention to these things.” As a matter of fact, Jian Sangyu knew very well about this matter. Teacher Xiaole whom Mother Jian talked about was a grand master of piano, and she had her added on WeChat. They often spoke with each other on the app and Jian Sangyu even called Teacher Xiaole to congratulate her when she won the grand prize.
Jian Sangyu didn’t want to admit their friendship, because she suspected the motivation behind Mother Jian asking about her social network and personal matters.
