To Be With You Forever - Chapter 42
Chapter 42: No Running About
Jian Sangyu was sitting on the passenger’s seat with a bitter face. She had not taken a look at Gu Chen from the moment she stepped into the car. Instead, she was mumbling to herself, wondering if he had seen her sneaking General’s chips. But why did he show no reaction?
And he even wiped off the crumbs on her lips?
There were many people in the supermarket at this hour. Many aunts and uncles in the neighborhood were there. So were some young people.
Gu Chen had the trolley walking in front and Jian Sangyu was looking very distracted after she entered the supermarket. It was not until he called her three times by name did she come back to herself.
“What are we buying?” Gu Chen stretched out his hands to Jian Sangyu. “Didn’t Aunty give you a list? Give that to me?”
Jian Sangyu let out a brief reply and gave the list to Gu Chen. There were only a few things they needed to buy, most of which were gingers, scallions, garlics and some spices. Aunty asked the couple to buy anything else they wanted, since the food supply was very abundant at home. Aunty had brought the food there in the morning anyways.
Gu Chen walked in front after he took over the list and Jian Sangyu tagged along in slow steps. As they walked past the snack zone, she did not even move her eyes from the shelves to look where she was going. She walked as she looked, just like the three-year-old boy behind her.
The boy asked his father to buy him a bag of treats and that made Jian Sangyu jealous. She threw a look at the muscular torso in front of her, failing to ask him to buy anything for her. She was even worried that Gu Chen would give her a lecture instead.
Gu Chen focused so much upon the vegetable picking that he failed to notice Jian Sangyu’s expression. Whenever he turned his head and caught sight of her, she was always standing on the spot like a quiet vase.
She was not offering to help him, and Gu Chen didn’t ask her to come and help either. It was just some ginger, scallions and garlic, and no mistakes would be made after all.
“You need to weigh the food after you get them in bag!” Jian Sangyu reminded her as she saw Gu Chen throwing everything into the cart.
“Okay.” Gu Chen replied. After he finished picking the stuff, he turned to Jian Sangyu when he saw the long queue. “Stay here and wait for me. No running about.”
“Okay.” Jian Sangyu replied instantly, and she stood there like a docile baby with a pair of smiling eyes, looking very gentle.
Gu Chen started to get very dubious as he saw her smiling in this way. Sure enough, when he almost reached the end of the queue, he found her missing. She was no longer standing in the same place as he saw her doing so a couple of minutes ago. She was totally gone.
So, Jian Sangyu had learnt how to act against his words?
Instead of looking for Jian Sangyu, Gu Chen went directly to the checkout after the weighing. He was not very surprised to find that when it was almost his turn, Jian Sangyu, who had been gone for a very long time, appeared again with a pile of things in arms. She threw them all into the cart.
“Why didn’t you wait for my food?” Jian Sangyu mumbled and complained to Gu Chen, as she bent her back to sort the things inside the cart.
