To Be With You Forever - Chapter 47
Chapter 47: Young People
The granddaughter-in-laws Grandpa Gu was talking about was Gu Chen’s cousin-in-law and Jian Sangyu.
Actually, the granddaughter of Old Yang’s, who was considered to be too ugly in Grandpa Gu’s eyes, was not that ugly at all. Instead, she was a very pretty girl. For some reason, however, that girl was skinny since she was little and now she was still very skinny. That was why Grandpa Gu said that she was not good-looking at all.
Jian Sangyu heard from Aunty that when Old Yang joked that he was going to marry his granddaughter to the Gu Family as the granddaughter-in-law, Grandpa Gu was furious and almost broke up his friendship with him.
But Jian Sangyu was aware that Grandpa Gu had always been jealous of Old Yang for having a granddaughter, because Grandpa Gu had numerous grandsons.
Seeing Jian Sangyu smiling, Grandpa Gu threw a look at Jian Sangyu directly. “Do not laugh. if you continue to be skinny, you will be uglier than she is. By the way, why do you look so much skinnier than the last time I saw you?”
As far as Grandpa Gu was concerned, being skinny means being ugly. He was an old man who liked chubby children.
After hearing what Grandpa Gu said, Jian Sangyu did not dare say that she was on a diet. She smiled and stayed silent. During the past few weeks, she had been doing exercise in the morning, eating, and then training once again. She had gotten so tired that she had no other choice but to become skinny.
“Young people should not always think about being skinny. Being skinny in our generation means being poor. Being chubby means being rich.” Grandpa Gu imparted to Jian Sangyu some lines and at this moment, Gu Qingxi and Gu Qingfeng were back, followed by Gu Yang and his family.
Gu Yang was Gu Qingfeng’s only son and him and his wife were childhood friends. They had been married for many years. Now she was teaching at a high school and their son was almost five years old.
The boy threw some glances around the house from behind his mother’s back the moment he entered the house. When he saw Grandpa Gu, he withdrew his gaze, but when he heard Jian Sangyu calling his name, he ran out and dashed towards Jian Sangyu.
“Cousin-in-law! I missed you so much!” The boy was not very tall, so he took hold of Jian Sangyu’s leg. He had amused Jian Sangyu so much.
“Let’s eat when we are all here.” Grandpa Gu made some counting and mumbled. “Jiang Xing and his father are missing.”
Jiang Xing was still in the team and Jiang Xing’s father happened to be out on business these days.
This family gathering was organized within short notice because of Gu Chen and Jian Sangyu’s sudden arrival. So Father Jiang was apparently not able to make it in time.
Usually, Jian Sangyu and Gu Chen sat next to each other at the previous family gatherings but because of what had happened in the supermarket, Jian Sangyu was angry at Gu Chen. When she thought that her cell-phone was still in his hands, Jian Sangyu asked the little boy to sit next to her instead.
Jian Sangyu didn’t try to hide how mad she was at Gu Chen when she asked the little boy to sit next to her. Grandpa Gu threw an unexpected look at Gu Chen but did not ask more. After all, people were already used to Gu Chen’s silence at family gatherings.
Jian Sangyu, however, reacted to some conversation and behaved much more vividly than usual. This surprised Gu Yang and his wife.
