Chapter 804: Fu Mingxiu and Yan Xi
Editor: Henyee Translations
Madam Fu hailed from the affluent Luo family in the capital. After marrying into the Fu family in Jin City, she had always been assertive and commanding.
Fu Mingxiu had always been obedient to her since childhood, except on two occasions.
The first was when he became a flatterer and backup for Gu Yang. The second was now, where he decided to break off the engagement.
Tang Shiya was a suitable match on paper, but he simply didn’t have feelings for her.
As Fu Mingxiu hurried along, passing by a private room, Yan Xi staggered out and accidentally collided with him.
Fu Mingxiu frowned, ready to push her away, but froze when he saw her face. “It’s you.”
He remembered seeing her at the Earthly Club that day.
In a half-drunk state, he had caught a glimpse of her profile and mistaken her for Yangyang, though he quickly realized his error. Yangyang was always obedient and would never frequent places like nightclubs.
“Yan Xi, come back here!”
The manager chased after Yan Xi and pulled her back, smiling apologetically at the middle-aged men in the private room. “President Zhang, Yan Xi is inexperienced in social situations. I’ll have a word with her later.”
Yan Xi felt dizzy. She had been careful with her drinks at the party but didn’t expect to fall into their trap.
She never anticipated they would touch her in front of so many people.
Realizing something was wrong, she had run out.
Desperation fueled her as she broke free from the manager’s grip and clung to Fu Mingxiu’s pants. “Call the police. Help me call the police.”
The manager’s expression darkened, his tone threatening. “Yan Xi, what nonsense are you spouting?”
He turned to Fu Mingxiu and said, “I advise you to mind your own business.”
Fu Mingxiu looked at Yan Xi’s flushed face and instantly grasped the situation.
Such incidents were common in the entertainment industry, and even in corporate environments.
The men in the private room recognized him too.
President Zhang of Tiansheng Media smiled. “Ah, Mingxiu. I met your mother at the Luo family’s banquet recently.”
“The company’s artiste is speaking out of turn while intoxicated. She has offended you. Please don’t take it to heart on my behalf,” President Zhang said as he approached Yan Xi.
Yan Xi was heavily inebriated, collapsing to the ground and clutching onto Fu Mingxiu’s leg tightly.
Fu Mingxiu frowned, feeling like his pants were about to be torn off.
He swatted away President Zhang’s reaching hand.
President Zhang’s expression shifted slightly. “Fu Mingxiu, your mother and I go way back. Aren’t you going to show me some respect?”
Fu Mingxiu looked at him calmly. “Uncle Zhang, my mother is in the adjacent private room. If you wish to catch up, please go find her there.”
President Zhang wasn’t intimidated by Fu Mingxiu, but his demeanor changed noticeably at the mention of Madam Fu.
“Uncle Zhang, I will take her away,” Fu Mingxiu insisted.
Fearing his pants might actually slide down, Fu Mingxiu tried to pry Yan Xi’s grip from his leg, but she held on tightly, her face flushed with drunkenness, trying to adjust her collar.
With a frown, he bent down and lifted her up to carry her away.
Calling the police was out of the question. An old operator like President Zhang would dissolve any trace of drugs in his system before it could be detected. Tiansheng Media would shield him from any consequences.
Furthermore, their families had ongoing business dealings and often interacted. Without certainty of victory, Fu Mingxiu couldn’t afford to risk offending him fatally.
But leaving Yan Xi here was not an option.
He couldn’t bear the thought of those people subjecting someone with a face resembling Yangyang to such vile acts.
