Chapter 60: Self-Destruction!
Anna, who had seemed like she was in an extremely weakened state, applied more force at her lower back. She propped her bent legs on Feng Dahai’s shoulders and tightened them around his neck in a death grip. Then, using his body for propulsion, she twisted her lower back abruptly and forcefully, her legs moving in a powerful 180-degrees swing.
It took only an instant for Anna to actually break Feng Dahai’s neck with her legs with a loud snap!
Afraid that he wasn’t dead yet, Anna let out a sharp cry and tightened her grip around Feng Dahai with her bound wrists and lower back again. Her legs that were clamped around Feng Dahai’s neck yanked upward with great force, and with his neck, she lifted his body that weighed over 50 kilograms off the ground.
Feng Dahai’s fragile cervical spine, upon the twisting and pulling of his neck, emitted another crisp snap. By the time Anna finally ran out of strength and loosened her legs’ grip around him and tossed him aside, Feng Dahai had already collapsed into a heap on the ground, and his eyes rolled back in his head!
“Cut!”
The director announced the discontinuation of filming. Crew members entered the location and swiftly carried Feng Dahai’s corpse away.
Everyone was astounded.
Wasn’t this woman a little too ferocious? She could actually kill someone when she was hung in mid-air with both her hands bound?
Surely nobody could do that unless they had undergone specialized training?
From the looks of things now, all the so-called weakness and debilitation that Anna had shown earlier were nothing more than just a pretense.
She had actually self-destructed!
Feng Dahai had guarded against every possibility and tied Li Teng up into a cocoon to prevent him from self-destructing, yet he hadn’t been on guard against Anna’s self-destruction!
Anna would definitely be going to hell with the current situation, while 100 points would be deducted from Feng Dahai. After the treatment chamber revived him, the film crew would then determine whether today’s filming would continue, based on the point balance in his account.
Huang Xun groaned and lamented, “Oh man! Both partners in this adulterous couple are so cunning! Boss, why do you simply not listen to me?!”
Du Qing, whose brows were drawn together tightly, replied, “Don’t worry, he has more than 100 points in his account for sure. Since he has come here to carry out the bounty mission, he would at least be mentally prepared for this.”
The other injured actors were also temporarily released from their bound states by the crew members. They were sent to an infirmary next door and laid down in treatment chambers to get their injuries treated.
After the medical treatment, they entered a lounge next door for a short break.
As it was currently non-filming time, actors were forbidden from attacking each other. Everyone, apart from Feng Dahai, was present in the lounge.
Daisy, the teenage girl, had evidently suffered significant psychological trauma. She sat by the wall in a daze and didn’t even utter a single word. There were tear stains on her face, and she trembled all over every once in a while.
Aisha, the white-collar woman, fared slightly better, though not by much. She was also quiet and stared blankly into space as she sat in silence.
Anna, the woman in the sunglasses, didn’t speak, either. She had a sullen expression on her face, and it was hard to tell what she was thinking about.
Gao Fei was also in shock, but apart from that, there was also some embarrassment in his expression. It seemed like he didn’t quite dare to meet Li Teng’s eyes.
Huang Xun, the spectacled man, sat in a corner of the room. He was constantly grumbling about something to Du Qing, the pretty boy. Once in a while, Du Qing would reply with a few consolation words to ease his unhappiness. Evidently, Huang Xun was ranting about how Feng Dahai had also tortured him. He couldn’t understand at all why he had done that.
Li Teng, who had been abused the most earlier, walked out of the infirmary as if nothing had happened. He turned to the director standing in the torture chamber and asked, “Director, I’m hungry. Is there any free box lunch provided on set?”
She replied, “There are paid ones, but not any free ones. What do you want? I’ll send a crew member to get it for you.”
“It’s chargeable? Nevermind, then. Are there any free snacks or anything like that?” asked Li Teng as he searched everywhere in the torture chamber. He didn’t even spare Feng Dahai’s toolbox, where the instruments of torture were kept.
“No, there aren’t any.”
“Isn’t the film crew kinda stingy? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Can you give feedback to upper management about this? Even if box lunches aren’t provided, surely some free snacks and drinks should be provided during filming intervals?” replied a highly dissatisfied Li Teng.
After a short period of silence, the director replied, “Please return to the lounge immediately.”
With a shake of his head, Li Teng turned and walked back to the lounge.
Huang Xun glanced at Li Teng, Anna, and the rest every once in a while as he conversed with Du Qing. He wanted to see whether they did or said anything out of the ordinary while they were in the lounge.
Unfortunately, nothing happened at all.
Huang Xun believed that the others might interact a little and discuss what measures to take against the defector camp if Du Qing and himself weren’t here.
Was the self-destruction just now something that they had planned in advance?
The situation was becoming more and more complicated!
…
Another few minutes passed.
Feng Dahai came back to life after his medical treatment was completed.
The director also made an official announcement.
100 points had been deducted from Feng Dahai’s account. However, his point balance didn’t become negative. Thus, filming would continue.
Additionally, as Anna had self-destructed, regardless of the outcome of today’s performance, she would be forced into a hell-mode film crew.
Upon hearing that filming was going to continue, Daisy couldn’t help but burst into tears. It was only after Aisha and Gao Fei comforted and persuaded her into continuing with the filming, coupled with the crew members’ warnings, that she had no choice but to follow the others and return to the torture chamber.
Everyone resumed the positions they were in before filming had been discontinued. Those who had been tied to the pillars were tied to the pillars again, and those who had been suspended in mid-air were hung up again.
Feng Dahai was evidently scared now. Right after filming resumed, he immediately got the military policemen to also tie up every part of the three female editors who were suspended in mid-air.
A moment of carelessness had led to 100 points being deducted for nothing. Feng Dahai couldn’t accept this.
He glared at Anna hatefully. The military policemen had only just tied her up firmly when he lashed out at her with his whip. He vented his anger on her without holding back in the least. In no time, she was beaten beyond recognition.
Huang Xun gathered his courage and gave Feng Dahai a reminder. He said, “Boss, you’ve already vented enough. You can’t kill her! She’s already going to hell, anyway. It’s meaningless to kill her at this point!”
Feng Dahai glared at Huang Xun menacingly. He replied, “What? Do you still think she isn’t the resistance fighter when the situation has already progressed to this point?”
Du Qing also spoke up. He said, “She really may not be.”
“If she isn’t, then why did she self-destruct and seek death on her own accord? Is she mad?” asked Feng Dahai, who was terribly frustrated. This was a very simple performance and a very simple hunt. He had thought that he would be able to earn that bounty reward of 100 points easily, but little did he think that he would encounter two troublesome fellows like Li Teng and Anna, who almost caused him to fail miserably in an easy task!
Huang Xun replied, “She really isn’t. Boss, calm down, and listen to my detailed analysis. Otherwise, we’ll lose out even more.”
After the medical treatment just now, his speech had resumed its original clarity.
“Say it,” instructed Feng Dahai, who finally calmed down.
“The biggest suspect right now is Anna. There’s no other way to explain her motive in self-destructing otherwise.
“But what if this is a trap?
“Anna is, at the very least, an actress that has already gone through more than ten scenes. No matter what, she should understand the consequences of self-destructing, right? Boss, you hadn’t wanted to kill her just now. Instead, you were intending to kill Li Teng, yet Anna suddenly self-destructed in the end.
“If Anna was the resistance fighter, she needed only to wait and see when you were going to kill Li Teng. There was no need for her to self-destruct at all.
“In this situation, there is only one possible reason why she would self-destruct.
“In other words, for Li Teng’s sake, she would not hesitate to even sacrifice her own life.
“However, the chances of this being the case are extremely low, and the possibility is practically laughable.
“Especially when Li Teng is such a scumbag and the biggest scumbag among all scumbags.
“An actress like her wouldn’t be immature to the point of being so impetuous and being swayed by her emotions.
“Thus, this eliminates the likelihood of Anna being the resistance fighter from the root of the problem itself.”
Huang Xun explained his analysis in a clear and logical manner.
“In that case, why did she self-destruct when I was about to kill Li Teng? Hurry up and just tell me the reason!” urged Feng Dahai. The more he listened to Huang Xun, the more frustrated he became.
“Boss, be patient, and listen to my analysis. Let’s think about this problem first—if Anna isn’t the resistance fighter, why would she stop you when you were intending to kill Li Teng?
“Or rather, what is the reason that Li Teng mustn’t die?
“Even if the newspaper office camp loses, Anna would still end up in a better situation than going to hell for sure after self-destructing, right?
“In that case, why would she still self-destruct? There is no smoke without fire. We must…”
Huang Xun went on and on. He even looked rather smug. He felt that he had already seen through everything with his high level of intellect.
“Just hurry and get to the goddamn point! What are you trying to do by rambling on and on for so long? Will it make you feel good only if you take a few lashings?!” snapped Feng Dahai as he lifted the whip in his hand.
“Don’t! Don’t! Boss! Listen to me! Even if the newspaper office camp loses, Anna would still be in a better situation than going to hell for sure, right? In this situation, why did Anna self-destruct?
“There’s only one reason for this—unless…”
