- Chapter 16 - Two Swords and the Angel’s Feather Chapter 16
The National Day was the biggest event in the Enchantia. All the people gathered in their best clothes for a day and held a festival in their village, and the aristocrats had the obligation to hold a proper festival for them. There was also a big party in the royal palace, and almost all the aristocrats with money flocked to the royal palace. All the aristocratic women were all dressed in their most beautiful clothes and showed off their beauty, while men, too, wore their best clothes and boasted themselves. A horse race is also held to commemorate the party. Many people attended the event, ranging from assigned knights for the day to aristocrats who wanted to show off their martial arts skills because the winners are directly praised by the kings and given a great amount of prize.
Therefore, there were many things to prepare in the royal palace. The busiest was the kitchen servants and seamstresses. The seamstress in charge of the royal family’s clothes was busy consulting the two kings, pouring out all kinds of designs to tailor the queen’s new clothes.
“No, this is too revealing of the chest.”
Aryll spoke emphatically, staring at the design with unpleasant eyes. Ced raised his eyebrows.
“Beautiful things are meant to be seen.”
“Are you crazy? If I see any of these lustful noble bastards drooling in Celia’s chest, I will slit their throats right away!”
Celia, who was standing to have her measurements taken by the seamstress’ assistants, rolled her eyes at Ellen.
“They have been acting like this for days. If my clothes are not finished before the party, I won’t be attending then…”
“You can’t do that. The clothes will be finished.”
Ellen, who glanced at the two kings quarreling, turned her eyes again. She was often envious of Celia, who is so dearly loved by the two men.
“Take my measurements and then Ellen’s. She needs new clothes, too.”
With Celia’s words, the seamstress glanced towards Ellen. She didn’t frown outright but looked worried about what kind of dress would be good for her. Ellen lowered her gaze.
“I’ll be in the back anyway, so I won’t need anything so fancy.”
“You don’t have to worry about Ellen’s clothes. The Duke of Madison said he’d arrange it.”
Ced said in a passive tone. Ellen and Celia looked at him at the same time. Even Aryll looked up at him.
“Why would he?”
“Well, even I don’t know the Duke’s motives. Maybe he’s interested because she’s the Queen’s direct maid.”
Ced shrugged as if it was nothing, but Celia looked at Ellen with shiny eyes, as if she was very pleased.
“The Duke of Madison must be interested in Ellen!”
“No way!”
Ellen said in a fit of surprise, but Celia rejoiced, even clapping.
“I always thought it would be nice if Ellen could marry a rich aristocrat and often stay in the royal palace. If it’s the Duke of Madison then it’s perfect!”
“I’ve never heard of Ryder Pelbrook showing interest in women. Rather, I always thought his younger brother would get married and start a family first. Because he has never been seen lacking any woman.”
Ellen’s face turned red and pale. In case anyone in the royal family noticed her expression, she lowered her head hurriedly. She didn’t want to hear about River and other women.
After their first copulation, Ellen thought River would just quickly dress up and leave. But surprisingly, he had wiped the inside of her thighs clean with a wet towel. He even hugged her and slept for a while in that narrow bed, then got up and kissed her sweetly when he had to go back to work.
She thought that was the end. She tried not to expect anything more. The next day, however, River sneaked in while Ellen was clearing the Queen’s breakfast table. Then he took her down the stairs of the inner room, grabbed her hair in one hand, pulled her back, and teased her, kissing her exposed scars and biting her ear.
‘I want to eat you for breakfast.’
