Chapter 19: Exchange My *ss
His father was still hastening him outside the door. Tang Lin held the enamel cup in his hand and said, “I’m almost done. Just wait a while more.”
Hearing Tang Lin’s robust response, Tang Zhanpeng didn’t think he needed to break in. He returned to the bed and sat down.
Tang Lin opened the lid of the cup. The whirling rays of lightning inside the cup dazzled him. This was going all out! But this measly amount of electricity was similar to those electric display balls, and impossible to destroy this very strong enamel cup.
Tang Lin threw the molded ball of white ashes into the cup and it enveloped the raging Ororo like a quilt. The rays of lightning dissipated, and Ororo was trapped in the white ash with only her head exposed, like a black dot on a glutinous rice ball.
Tang Lin said to the ball, “If you don’t want to die, keep quiet! (Don’t move if you don’t want to die!)”
After saying that, Tang Lin was extremely emotional. The English he had lost was back. There was no need to translate this sentence at all.
He put the molded ball in his pocket, and put away the toilet brush and enamel cup — two pieces of equipment that had risked their lives with him — before going out of the toilet. Once this door has closed, no one in this world would know that these two super devices had once transmigrated to another world and fought a villain who could destroy Earth.
It would probably be many years before someone discovered on the enamel cup the black spot that was caused by a lightning strike, and from there deduced an epic story.
Tang Lin walked out of the toilet with the sigh of a soldier in his twilight years and gave the cell phone back to his father.
Tang Zhanpeng wiped his cell phone in disdain and said to Tang Lin, “Don’t bring my cell phone into the toilet next time. It’s unhygienic, you know?”
“Then buy me a new one. My cell phone is burnt,” Tang Lin said expectantly.
“We’ll see about that when you are discharged from the hospital”
“No need, there’s online shopping!” Tang Lin said.
Tang Zhanpeng: “…”
As a father, he was certain that his son’s injuries should be almost healed. He had originally wanted to help his son lie back down, but now he can cut all that out.
Tang Lin had indeed recovered completely. If he removed the bandage, he would realize that there wasn’t even a scar left. He was still wondering how to explain that when the dressing was removed. For now, lying on the bed, he could not think of a good excuse.
“Forget it. When the time comes, I’ll say that I don’t know. Let the doctor think about it himself.”
Tang Lin’s idea was undoubtedly correct. Rather than him spouting nonsense, it was better to pretend that he didn’t know anything. He was only a high school graduate, not a doctor with a master’s degree. He just had to say he didn’t know.
Tang Lin didn’t get thrown out of the ambulance even when he claimed that he was penniless. Even if he recovered exceptionally quickly, would he be captured and cut up for research? He was overthinking it. Even the Qigong master who could extinguish the forest fire back then wasn’t cut up.
What Tang Lin really needed to consider now was the impact that transmigration had on him. Although superpowers were fun, they were only at the level of close-up magic. It was impossible for him to be invincible in modern society, so it was best for him to keep a low profile.
In his ten odd years of life, an adage that left the deepest impression on him was: When you tell a secret to another person, you have to be prepared for the secret to be leaked. After all, if you couldn’t even keep a secret yourself, how could you expect others to do it?
Once Tang Lin told his parents, if he were in their shoes, would his parents tell his maternal and paternal grandparents? If this continued, it would be bad. The Tang family had four generations in the same house. Although his great-grandfather was in his nineties, he could still practice Tai Chi every day. His great-grandmother never missed a session of line dancing at night.
Therefore, Tang Lin felt that it was better not to tell his family unless it was absolutely necessary.
One day, when Tang Lin was capable of protecting himself and his family, he would tell his family this secret.
After setting this basic principle, Tang Lin needed to consider another problem: what about Ororo?
Tang Lin had never thought that he could transmigrate to another world and bring back people from that world. Fortunately, Ororo was tiny. This was probably because low-latitude lifeforms would naturally become tiny when they entered the advanced latitude.
Tang Lin felt that it would be a loss to kill her directly. This was a mutant, the Storm Goddess who could change the weather. Although she was in the intermediate second stage and had yet to fully develop her abilities, that was why she couldn’t even break out of a teacup.
However, this was good. If Tang Lin could raise this tiny person well, it would be equivalent to having an additional weather regulator. Whenever he didn’t feel like going to school, he would call for a dark rainstorm. How awesome would that be?
There was another key point. Tang Lin still had to continue transmigrating to other worlds. He could not descend every time and trample on ants as a giant. Even if Tang Lin brought all his tools, there were many inconveniences. Ororo’s abilities were not weak. If he could train Ororo well, she would become his little soldier and she would come in useful in many situations.
In that case, it was a better choice to keep it.
However, this process was probably not that easy. This was a shrunken human with an independent personality and intelligence. She was not something that could be trained like a dog, with a stick and carrot approach.
“Feeding is simple. Just leave two grains of rice on the dining table and some shredded meat picked out from between the teeth. However, the location is a problem. Mom and Dad must not find out. And a certain amount of space is required to move around…”
Just as Tang Lin was thinking, the emotionless system suddenly popped up again.
“The alternate plane’s timeline had been reconstructed. Mission completed. You have received 1000 Wish Power points as a reward. Due to the reorganization of the timeline, the summoner had lost the corresponding memory, so the satisfaction level is 0%. Unfortunately, you have not received any additional Wish Power points reward.”
The settlement of the mission was delayed. Tang Lin didn’t care at first. He already felt that he had profited from evolving a Silver skill to a Gold skill.
However, when he heard this notification that Magneto didn’t remember him after the time line reorganization, he immediately felt displeased.
In fact, this was very logical. Magneto summoned Tang Lin because his wife and daughter died. The Wolverine once again changed history so that Magneto’s wife and daughter didn’t have to die. Of course, he wouldn’t summon Tang Lin then, so there naturally wouldn’t be any relevant memories.
It was fine if Tang Lin didn’t know, but now that he did, he felt like he was missing out.
He opened the exchange interface a little gloomily. Spending this 1000 Wish Power points could be therapeutic for his wounded soul.
The content displayed on the skills exchange interface was much more than last time, but the exquisite craftsmanship of the dwarves and the omnivorous nature of the Orcs had already disappeared. It seemed that transmigrating again would clear the exchange list from the previous time.
In other words, if Tang Lin did not exchange the skills that are displayed next, they would disappear the next time he transmigrated.
In that case, he could not spend the 1000 Wish Power points recklessly. It would be best if he could exchange them for a few more superpowers. After all, the superpowers in X-Men could still be developed later. The growth rate was still very much worth looking forward to. Moreover, different abilities often had unexpected effects when combined.
After mentally preparing himself, Tang Lin saw the first skill:
[Gold Skill: Magnetic Manipulation Level 1]
[Source of Skill: The plane of the X-Men, Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto)]
[Skill Effect: Generates and controls magnetic fields.]
[Remark: Electromagnetic force is one of the four fundamental forces in the universe. If you can completely control this force, tearing down a planet is as easy as breathing. However, please note that electromagnetic force cannot replace oxygen. Please prepare a spaceship first.]
[Skill exchange price: 10000 Wish Power points. As it is a species from a neutral formation, there is no exchange discount. Actual price: 10000 Wish Power points.]
Tang Lin: “…”
What the hell was there to exchange!
