- Chapter 39 - What Kind Of Newbie Are You?! They Said That “Summoner” Is A Terrible Job, Yet They Call Her The Last Boss Chapter 39
After successfully defeating Crystal Leo, Johann arrives at the Third Layer.
“Zecca-chan and the others still don’t look like they’ve made it yet… I’ve got it! Let’s surprise them a little,” Johann said.
She took out Crystal Leo’s summoning stone from earlier and activates it.
“Summoned beast call—Crystal Leo!!”
A white ice lion appears from the geometric magic circle. Its size is the same as the one she was fighting earlier.
“I’m bored just waiting around, so I guess I’ll check this kid’s Skills.”
Johann navigates her menu and confirms Crystal Leo’s Skills.
“Absolute Zero”: Generates a blizzard and inflicts the Freezing Status Ailment on opponents.
“Diamond Dust Burst”: A Super Damage Ice attack.
“Ice Clone”: Creates 3 Ice Tokens with the same stats as the caster. Tokens are AI controlled. Tokens cannot use Skills.
The set of Skills was extremely powerful as it was a reward for defeating the Layer Boss alone.
“Hmm, Absolute Zero and Ice Clone seem useful. I think I’ll try it next time,” Johann said.
As she does so, the gate opens. Then Zecca, Remma, Kon, and Donald appear after just having defeated Crystal Leo.
“We’re finally on the Third Layer… woah!?” Zecca said.
“…… An enemy!?” Remma cried.
“No, that’s just a summoned beast, y’all,” Kon said.
“Wait, wait, wait a minute~ you really can turn a Layer Boss into a summoned beast~?☆” Donald said.
It’s little surprise they’re surprised. After finally defeating the formidable enemy and coming to a new stage, they were greeted by the boss monster they had just been fighting.
“Ufufu. I’m sorry. I wanted to surprise you a little,” Johann said.
“I was surprised~,” Donald said. “My life has just been shortened.☆”
“Speaking of which, how old are you, Donald-han?” Kon asked.
“Bursting with life at 28☆,” Donald said.
“Oh my, we’re the same age,” Kon said.
“I’m surprised you’re both older than me… well, I’m 25, so it’s not like I’m that far away,” Johann said.
“I’m the same age as you, Johann-chan?!” Donald said. “I’m so happy! You see, this game is so full of youngsters, isn’t it?”
“Right?” Johann said. “There are times when I get energized by it. When I talk to teenagers, though, I can’t help but feel my age…”
“I know what you mean~! But we’re still young! After all, 28 is still 3 years old in terms of dogs’ age,☆” Donald said.
“Why did y’all convert it to dog years?” Kon asked.
While the adult group was excitedly chatting with themselves, Zecca and Remma returned from playing with the summoned beast Crystal Leo. It seems Crystal Leo ran out of MP and disappeared. Johann seems to have summoned it too early.
“Haa-haa, after all, that kid is so cute,” Zecca said. “I would be happy if you could call it from time to time and let me play with it.”
“It’s fine, but Zecca-chan, your HP is about half-gone, you know?” Johann said.
“It attacked me like crazy,” Zecca said.
“Are you okay? Weren’t you just playing around!?”
“I’m happy, so it’s OK!” Zecca cried.
Triggered by the disappearance of Crystal Leo, the five decided to aim for the city that would serve as their base on the Third Layer.
The Third Layer is the grassland area. The atmosphere is somewhat similar to the First Layer. As they walked along the grassy road and Zecca wondered, “Is it a copy and paste?”, Kon suddenly spoke up:
“By the way, y’all know about this? The Guild Home System will be out next Saturday night.”
“I heard that, too,” Donald said. “Johann-chan has a priority ticket for a Guild Home, so don’t forget to exchange it on Friday, okay?”
It was the Guild Home Voucher Johann got from the Pirate King Raid. It’s a great item that lets you get any guild home you like for free. If you use this item, you can get your favorite guild home the day before next Saturday, when all players will be given the right to purchase a guild home.
“But, y’all didn’t create a guild yet, did you?” Kon said.
“Really!?” Donald cried. “That’s a waste. Now, now, just go ahead and make one quickly.☆”
“Oh!” Kon said. “I just noticed there’s exactly 5 of us here, y’all!”
A guild must have at least 5 members to form. And there are exactly 5 independent players here. Kon deliberately points it out.
“My, oh my,~☆” Donald giggles.
Just by looking at Kon, Donald sees through her true feelings.
“I’m also for it,” Donald said. “Until now I’ve been playing solo, but… with you guys, forming a guild wouldn’t be bad~☆”
And now, Donald is on board, too.
“Really? If you two say it’s good, let’s form a guild with us five,” Johann said.
She was reluctant to join a guild at first but her expression loosened into a smile as she thought Kon and Donald, trusted players of hers, would be joining them.
“That’s right. With us five, we might be able to do something we couldn’t do before… I’m game,” Zecca said.
“…I’m game, too,” Remma said. “I think we can have a lot of fun together.”
Johann smiles.
“Ah, right,” Zecca said, timidly raising her hand. “It’s not so much a condition, but…”
“What is it, Zecca-chan? By any chance, do you want to play guild master?” Johann asked.
“No. Umm, this is a guild with only this many members. I don’t think it’s possible to have only the 5 of us in the future. I’m sure we’ll have more members in the future.”
“Well, of course☆,” Donald said.
“At that time, why don’t we make it a rule that the first five people will be consulted first?” Johann asked.
“Well, that’s fair,” Kon said. “It may not be good to add on as y’all please.”
“I’m fine with that☆,” Donald said.
“If Zecca-chan wants to do that, then that’s fine,” Johann said.
“… Me, too,” Remma said.
“Thank you. Thank you for listening to my selfishness…” Zecca said.
“It’s fine. I have to decide this in a way that everyone can agree on,” Johann said.
With the establishment of the guild safely decided, Johann and the others arrive at the base city of the Third Layer, Aska City.
“My, my, my…” Kon said.
“……This is terrible,” Remma said.
“Are they reusing assets?” Zecca said.
“For shame,” Kon said.
“What’s wrong, everyone? What are you so disappointed about?” Johann said.
Other than Johann, everyone looks disappointed and let down.
“Look carefully, Johann-chan,” Donald said. “This is the exact same shape as the city at the start of the First Layer…”
“I’m damn disappointed that we all came here thinking it’s a new town,” Kon said.
“Huh? It’s nice that it’s easy to remember,” Johann said.
“As expected of Johann-chan! A rational thought unique to a newbie,” Donald said.
“… Are you just not interested in anything other than Virtumon?” Remma asked.
The five head to the center of Aska City, which looks exactly like the city of beginnings. There was a service center there, and they were able to take orders for quests and register to create a guild.
They will complete the procedures as instructed by the NPC receptionist. Then, they talked about who was going to be their guild master. They unanimously decided it would be Johann.
“I wonder if it’s okay if I take the job… After all, Donald-san is the veteran here…” Johann said.
“It’s impossible for me to suddenly become the guild master as a newcomer☆,” Donald said.
“Right, right, Johann-san will be the guild master!” Zecca cried.
“It looks like it’s going to be fun, y’all,” Kon said.
“Then, I’ll be the guild master…” Johann said.
Next, they have to enter the guild name. Johann takes out a Hinadora summoning stone. Honestly, she had already secretly thought of the guild’s name.
“Dragon Hina,” Johann said. “I want to go with the guild name Dragon Hina…”
Johann looks back anxiously.
“That’s good, ain’t it?” Kon said.
“It’s good! I agree,” Zecca said.
“Our Guild Master is a monster, not just a chick☆,” Donald said.
“… If it’s a name that Onee-chan decided,” Remma said.
“Thank you, everyone,” Johann said.
Yes. This encounter all started with Hinadora.
That’s why, if she were to create a guild, she was thinking of giving it this name.
Johann entered Dragon Hina.
“Well then… let’s form a guild!”
Then, with vigor, she pressed the OK button.
