Chapter 12 – Part 1
Elysia was not carrying something in her hands that day.
Instead, she carried the bananas and sheets of paper at her side like a bag.
“Miss.”
As she was already used to the sight, Rizbeth ignored what Elysia had bought.
Rizbeth spoke to her in a heavy tone.
“Thank you for providing for my brother’s medical expenses.”
“?”
It was the first day that Rizbeth let her inside the annex.
Elysia had immediately paid secretly for Rizbeth’s brother’s medical expenses.
For precaution, every time Elysia would record in her book unused expenses.
Which had resulted in her having extra money by her records.
That no matter how much Elysia spent, there would be no trace of it.
“Is he doing better?”
Elysia shrugged her shoulders as she looked at Rizbeth who had thanked her.
It was the fee for the arrangement they had agreed on, so Elysia thought that she shouldn’t be thanked.
Rizbeth said her thanks, and she thought it was no different from the level of gratitude she felt whenever the door opened.
“…And you don’t even have to send him toys.”
“Ah.”
Was this her main intention?
It was like a prologue to the main story.
Elysia questioned her with a smirk.
“Was it not to your brother’s liking?”
Even at present, Ariel still adored her big doll that she slept with next to her pillow.
Therefore, Elysia naturally knew that Rizbeth’s brother would like toys, too.
“What are you talking about. Rather, he was dying with joy.”
A family that couldn’t afford anything that was not a necessity, they had to play with second-hand toys.
And all of a sudden, woven and expensive toys were delivered, and Rizbeth’s brother cried all day, expressing his gratitude to her elder brother Rizbeth.
That’s what had happened that morning.
Rizbeth couldn’t bear to tell the truth to her tearful brother.
“It’s fine.”
At the same time, she pulled a banana from the bunch at her side and gave it to Rizbeth.
“Do you want some?”
“…..”
Rizbeth was about to refuse when she looked at the young Elysia and couldn’t, so she accepted the banana she had offered.
Rizbeth tried to calm herself as she thought of the rumored evil woman Elysia, but it didn’t work out the way she thought.
“If there is something on your mind, don’t beat around the bush and just say it. It’ll just be between us.”
She spoke in an even tone.
Rizbeth didn’t feel comfortable with the phrase ‘between us’ coming from Elysia.
It was presumed that ‘between us’ was meant to emphasize that they were now accomplices.
Despite this, Rizbeth couldn’t refute as she was the daughter of the family that employed her.
“I let you in, so I can overlook this to an extent.”
Elysia tore off a finger from its stem. She had eaten lunch, but skipped yesterday’s dinner and today’s breakfast, so she still felt hungry.
Rizbeth looked down at Elysia as she struggled to peel a banana in silence.
She couldn’t stand to watch any longer, so she peeled the banana Elysia had offered to her and exchanged it with Elysia’s.
“Oh. Thanks.”
Elysia thanked Rizbeth’s act of consideration and took a bite.
“To be frank, the fee of his medical expenses at the expense of his personal life is burdensome.”
“Hm.”
“I felt guilty as the source of the money was not earned in good faith.”
“Hm.”
Elysia answered Rizbeth as she chewed the banana.
Rizbeth indicated that her bottom line was that it was burdensome and uncomfortable for her, as the money for her brother’s treatment was quid pro quo for treatment of Eden.
She emits such integrity as a person. However, for Rizbeth to be in this state, Elysia thought that his medical expenses were too great for her to afford.
Elysia popped the last bit into her mouth and tried to place the banana peel inside her dress pocket.
However, it was impossible as Rizbeth took it.
“Well… It’s true that you have been treating me well in exchange for letting you see Eden but…”
I can’t believe she admitted it directly to me.
It was Elysia herself that offered Rizbeth to let out whatever she wanted to say, but she wasn’t expecting that she would openly show her reluctance in front of her provider.
However, she didn’t stop smiling at Rizbeth.
“Rizbeth. Try shifting your perspective.”
“Change the way I think?”
“Yes. You honestly felt a little relieved that I was attending Eden.”
Aside from feeling nervous about when we’ll get caught.
Rizbeth couldn’t deny Elysia’s statement and kept silent.
“That I was doing something good.”
She tightened the grip to her side to keep the bananas and sheets of paper from falling out.
She seemed to have no doubts that her actions were out of good will.
“Which is why, what you’re feeling right now is more appropriately aimed toward Father, not me.”
“……..”
Elysia’s explanation couldn’t make Rizbeth deny it; it was the truth.
“You’re going along the wrong path, but your life turned around when you helped me.”
How was that? It was the truth, right? Elysia thought.
Rizbeth’s eyes widened, and Elysia smiled triumphantly.
Elysia felt relieved as she said it.

T/N: Hi guys! I apologize for mistaking Rizbeth’s identity. In this chapter, Rizbeth was referred by her sickly brother as ‘누나’ or Noona, confirming that Rizbeth is a woman.
