“Yes~!”
Yet contrary to her gallant answer, Ariel continued running with all of her might.
It was Ariel’s own effort to get closer to her sister as soon as possible.
“You’re full of energy today.” Elysia said when Ariel finally reached her, as she organized her little sister’s messed up hair.
Elysia thought that Ariel must have been running even before Ariel found her, because her sweaty hair was stuck near her forehead and neck.
With a familiar touch, the hair around Ariel’s neck was tugged off by Elysia, and Ariel smiled satisfied and hung onto her sister’s arm.
“Unnie. Were you taking a walk?”
“Yeah, well…”
Elysia usually only stayed inside their four-walled mansion. Only leaving rarely, it was unusual for her to walk around this place.
If she weren’t planning to see Eden, she would have walked to the garden.
“You should have called me!” Ariel said, puffing out her cheeks.
The thought of missing an opportunity to walk with her sister revealed her broken heart through her white puffed cheeks.
“I was thinking of going in after walking a few minutes.”
“But…”
Ariel felt that it had been part of meeting her sister lately, so Ariel was feeling saddened by every little opportunity like a quick walk passing by.
Ariel rubbed her forehead on her sister’s shoulder, “And yesterday, I waited to eat dinner with you…”
Elysia couldn’t help but smile at the cuteness of her lovely young sister.
“And what did Sister say last time?” Elysia inquired as she stroked Ariel’s head with a soothing touch.
“If Unnie is running late, don’t wait and eat first… S- so I ate right after Rachel told me!” Ariel pouted as she answered.
Ariel immediately went on defense mode, saying that she had changed– not waiting for her sister too long, because she would likely be scolded if she did.
‘Adorable.’
Contrary to her sister-mode attitude, Elysia couldn’t help but melt into Ariel’s cuteness and hugged her tightly.
“Eup..!”
A strange sound came from Ariel’s mouth as she was suddenly buried in Elysia’s arms.
After a while, despite Ariel having mixed feelings with her face crushed, she eventually wrapped her arms around Elysia’s back.
“Unnie… Have you been busy lately?”
Similarly to Elysia, Ariel had never been out of the mansion.
And thus, Ariel had no friends outside of the mansion, and her older sister Elysia and her maid Roa were the only ones she could speak and play with.
In the kind of environment they were in, it was natural for Ariel to become obsessed with playing with Elysia.
“I don’t have much free time these days because of my new work.”
Elysia buried her face on her sister’s shoulder as she made an excuse.
“Even Unnie wasn’t around, you have to eat well, do you understand?”
“Jeez. Someone might think you’re going far away.”
Ariel hated just the thought of it.
She complained to Elysia.
“Really? I’m sorry.”
Elysia was still smiling while she handed over the apple.
Anything Ariel did seemed lovely in Elysia’s eyes.
“Hmph! I’m only letting this go because you’re my Unnie,” Ariel responded coyly, perhaps because she liked the mischievousness of Elysia’s apology.
Through the autumn breeze, a warm atmosphere coalesced around the two sisters.
Suddenly, something occurred to Elysia, and she raised her head, “But Ariel.”
“Yes?”
“What about your class?”
“…….”
The warm atmosphere surrounding the two quickly dissipated.
Ariel gently turned her head away.
“Th- there was no class today…”
“Hey, are you doing as you please?”
“…….”
“When I was wondering why you were sweating so much, you were running away from Roa.”
“…….”
Elysia had guessed it right from the beginning to the end, and Ariel remained silent, unable to excuse herself.
“Ariel. What would happen if you skipped classes that you only have to attend twice a week?”
Hers was less than half of Elysia’s class time.
Even her class schedule was forcibly reduced by Elysia.
Ariel ran away because she didn’t like attending.
Elysia was on her guard, compared to last year, the number of Ariel’s escapes had decreased.
“Bu- but… it was no fun…”
‘Saying it like that…’
Elysia felt a pang at Ariel’s stuttered protest.
Elysia dropped her body to Ariel without saying anything, and she looked at her sparkling sister with sullen eyes.
“I’m sorry… Are you angry?”
In an attempt to melt the cold frozen heart of Elysia, Ariel held their hands together and looked back at Elysia.
Ariel’s intention was to show Elysia her aegyo.
Her ulterior motive was clearly visible to Elysia.
“Ha…”
There were three things Ariel did every time she made a mistake.
1) Act cute, 2) Be endearing, and 3) Pretend to reflect.
Ariel had pretended to reflect on herself a few days ago. In Elysia’s mind, it seemed that Ariel was in the acting cute phase this time.
‘No, was she being endearing today?’
Elysia could read Ariel’s hidden intentions clear as day.
“I’m not angry.” she softly said, and despite what she could see, Elysia shook her head in denial.
But because she was aware of Ariel’s intentions and habitual patterns, it did not mean that Elysia wouldn’t fall for them.
Nine out of ten times, she did.
And today was one of the ninth times.
