Why Defeat The Devil? - Chapter 22
Chapter 22: His Destiny Decided
Vivian was not the best Adventurer in Lamigione, but she was certainly the best Adventurer group leader.
Those who had been in her group received her guidance when they were new. Later, they became the best Adventurers in Lamigione.
Her gentle and kind nature allowed her to nurture many newbies, grooming them into talented Adventurers.
Hence, Vivian’s reputation and popularity, whether it was in Lamigione or the other towns, were immensely boosted.
Apart from being gentle, kind, and approachable, she mentored a lot of new Adventurers. She was young and beautiful, yet she wore the heavy armor and wielded the large shield to protect her students. Vivian was essentially everyone’s goddess.
Leili and Vivian had known each other for a long time, and Leili trusted Vivian. Each time there was an intricate assignment in the Adventurers Guild, she would involve Vivian. Whenever there was an incident in the guild, she would often discuss it with Vivian as well. If there were newbies with extraordinary potential, Leili would even encourage them to join Vivian’s group to receive her guidance.
Although this weird newbie could not yet be categorized as having extraordinary potential, he was still worthy of attention if he had exclusive or special skills.
“You know that exclusive and special skills usually have extraordinary effects which are different from the normal skills, especially the exclusive skills. While some exclusive skills can’t be applied in battles at all, they’re useful in other fields. Some can even change one’s destiny, allowing the person to ultimately succeed by circumventing any disadvantages.”
Leili grew serious.
“Generally, people who could awaken their exclusive skills are possibly the elites in their fields. The best examples we have are the two palace advisors in the kingdom.”
Both palace advisors were low in levels. They were not even at Level 10, and they had no battling skills. However, their stature in the kingdom was higher than most people, even those at high levels.
One of the palace advisors had an exclusive skill which significantly improved the success rate of “Taming”, making it possible to tame high-level monsters, such as dragons, in batches. Thus, a large number of dragons were supplied to the kingdom’s paladins as their mounts. The other had an exclusive skill which could mature plants swiftly, thereby providing an ample supply of food to the kingdom. In addition, the growth period of herbs, which were used in magic potions, was shortened tremendously. This particular exclusive skill contributed massively to the reputation of the Mithra Kingdom as the food and magic potion kingdom.
As a result, the kingdom regarded people who had exclusive skills highly. The Adventurers Guild, in particular, paid attention to people who could possibly awaken their exclusive skills.
Otherwise, Xi En’s details would not have shown up at Leili’s table.
“Although the odds of this newbie having an exclusive skill is relatively low, we should still investigate to see if he has any special skills. It’d be even better if he’s a prodigy but hasn’t yet developed for unknown reasons. Whatever it is, there’s nothing to lose in observing him.”
It was Leili’s plan while Vivian did not mind guiding newbies. There were not many Adventurers, aside from Vivian, who had the patience and kind intention to guide newbies nowadays.
Furthermore, news about Xi En’s episode with the Magic Detector at the guild today had gotten around. Had he been assigned to another group, he would probably be treated as a loser who could not learn even a single skill by the other Adventurers in the group, perhaps even isolated and humiliated by them.
All things considered, he stood to gain from being assigned to Vivian’s Adventurers group.
Leili’s professionalism and ethics were noteworthy in making an appropriate assignment for a newbie who had just joined despite his uncertainty of becoming an Adventurer.
She had done so considering that Xi En might have an exclusive skill. Xi En’s circumstances reflected rather low chances of him acquiring such a skill. It was more plausible that he really was a non-achiever who could not even pick up a skill. Perhaps, he might not even be worthy of such an arrangement.
Leili was quite considerate having made such a decision…
In spite of it…
“It’s been a long time since my group has a male newbie Adventurer. It’ll be a headache.”
Vivian’s worry just prompted a shrug from Leili.
It could not be helped. Vivian’s group was known for its excellence. Besides, there was another point which stood out. Her group, Vivian included, consisted entirely of outstanding beauties.
There were quite a number of female Adventurers in this world. However, to be a pretty and capable Adventurer at the same time was indeed rare. Whenever such a person appeared in the guild, the various groups and parties would fight each other for the beauty. Unfortunately, it roused fights from certain people who had ulterior motives.
It was because she was well aware of such incidents that Vivian trained her group of female Adventurers to protect themselves from the malice and evil intentions. Despite her effort, there were still such occurrences in the past.
Vivian was kind and nice to newbies whom Leili frequently assigned to her group. Although the newbies had potential, it did not mean they were well behaved.
There were cases where the newbies who joined Vivian’s group harbored malicious motives toward the girls in the group and eventually acted on it. As a result, it had been some time since Vivian allowed a male into her group. Mostly, she would only provide help within her abilities.
This time, Leili assigned a male Adventurer to Vivian which made her hesitant.
Surely, Leili had taken it into consideration.
“There’s Diyeer. If this new recruit dares try his luck, let her break his limbs like she did previously, and I’ll cancel his qualification as an Adventurer and expel him from the guild.”
Leili told her without a pause.
“Hmm… Alright then.”
Vivian finally nodded after pondering for a moment.
As such, Xi En’s destiny was hence decided.
