After evading the chained ax demon’s attack, they did not encounter any other creatures of this sort that chased after them. Qin Guanglin continued to walk in front while He Fang held his hand. She was no longer as afraid as she had been at the start and sauntered behind him at ease.
“Why aren’t you scared anymore?” He turned to ask her when they were near the exit.
He Fang looked up and smiled. “I was no longer scared when you carried me and ran.”
“I… Ah!” Qin Guanglin was about to speak when the ground beneath his feet suddenly started quaking. He was so frightened that he nearly jumped. The mannequins all scared people from the side, but this thing directly affected their bodies.
“Be careful. This is the last obstacle.” He glanced down. It was a large moving iron panel. He did not know where its massive force came from.
As she held his hand, He Fang took an enormous step and crossed the iron panel. She took another two steps forward and pulled a curtain aside. Everything became clear at once.
“Congratulations on clearing the ghost city maze.” The fatso had taken off his mask at some point in time. His large, round face was looking at them, and he had a smile on his face. “Take care, both of you.”
“A big guy chased after us inside.” Qin Guanglin looked at his plump face in suspicion. “It wasn’t you, right?”
“Of course not, of course not. No staff is inside now.” The fatso frantically waved his hands. “It’s a ghost city. Anything can happen inside.”
“Thanks for the hard work.” Qin Guanglin heard the subtext in his words and did not continue harping on the issue. He held He Fang’s hand and walked out.
“What shall we do next?” Qin Guanglin held the map of the park and examined which rides they had not gone on.
He Fang took the half-filled bottle of Haizhiyan from his hand and casually drank from it. “Let’s go to the exit.”
“Do you want to go out now?” Qin Guanglin asked. He took the bottle of Haizhiyan that she handed back to him. He felt a little thirsty but was hesitant to drink from the same bottle.
How did it come so naturally for her?! Qin Guanglin felt his face heating slightly. According to his rich relationship experience, since the two started dating recently, holding hands was considered appropriate. But they had already kissed and hugged, and he even touched—Uhm. Although it was an exceptional circumstance, they were progressing a little too fast. They had to slow down.
Yes. It was better to slow down.
“I’m going to get something.” He Fang merely pulled him along as she walked forward. “Then we’ll come back and play.”
They went to get the box she carried with her when they came in. Qin Guanglin asked what it was, but she kept her mouth shut and shook her head. She led Qin Guanglin straight to the pier.
Right in the middle of the park was an enormous lake that occupied more than half the amusement park area. More than twenty pedal boats were docked at the pier, and these were pedal-powered boats. Hence, they could not move too fast and could only move slowly and leisurely.
“This way, please.” The staff at the pier was a tall and skinny chap with a large straw hat on his head. He led the two of them inside.
“I want two packets of fish food.” He Fang was holding the box in her hand, and since she could not take out her wallet, she gestured for Qin Guanglin to pay.
There was a large school of carps in the lake. There were golden threads amidst the large group of fresh red carp. At times, a carp would jump out of the water and dive back in, causing a wave of ripples.
Qin Guanglin took the packets of fish food they bought and sat on the boat with He Fang. The chap with the straw hat unraveled the rope at the bow of the boat. With a gentle push, the boat left the dock and floated towards the lake.
Only the two of them sat on a big, four-seater boat that He Fang had chosen. This boat type was slightly longer than the two-seater boat and had an additional square block sticking out in the middle. She then placed the box she brought with her on top of it. Qin Guanglin guessed that she had chosen the large boat because of this protrusion.
He attempted to step on the pedals twice and realized that it was relatively easy. He Fang opened a bag of fish food and grabbed a handful before scattering it to the water. The fish instantly started moving restlessly, and a large block of red speedily crowded over as if they went mad.
As Qin Guanglin looked at them, he was amused. Those carps started vying for food after occupying the area where the fish food was floating. Half of their bodies were above the water’s surface, and it exposed them to the air. Their mouths opened and closed as they took gulps of air.
He Fang handed him the bag of fish food. Qin Guanglin reached out, grabbed a handful, and scattered it across the same area. The shoal of fish was even more agitated. A few of them even jumped out of the water with a slap of their tails. A few others were pushed out of the water and flipped their bodies before falling back in.
“You can’t feed them in the same area. If you scatter the food beside the boat, they won’t follow us to the center of the lake.” As He Fang said this, she grabbed another handful of fish food and threw it, demonstrating to Qin Guanglin. The large shoal of fish chased after their boat in a triangular configuration.
“Lead them bit by bit, right?” Qin Guanglin looked at the scene before him. He felt that his entire body and mind had relaxed completely. A sense of contentment arose spontaneously.
“That’s right. One step at a time.” He Fang glanced at him meaningfully.
Under her gaze, Qin Guanglin felt a little tingly. He scratched his head in confusion, brought the bottle to his lips, and had a sip of water. His hand paused when he twisted the bottle cap close. He glanced furtively at He Fang.
Seeing that He Fang was staring at him while beaming, he acted calmly and looked elsewhere. “Ahem… How was your exam today?”
“It was a language exam. Very simple.” He Fang grabbed more fish food and threw it on the surface of the lake.
Qin Guanglin was slightly surprised. “What’s the point of taking that exam?”
“I still have to get my teacher’s certification. It’s necessary.” She casually said, “I’ll be a language teacher in the future.”
Qin Guanglin was even more surprised. “You want to be a teacher?”
“Can’t I?” He Fang raised her eyebrows.
“That’s not what I mean…” Qin Guanglin gestured with his hands and then put them down. In his impression, language teachers were all poker-faced and dignified, and they seem to speak very harshly. He could not imagine He Fang reprimanding her students without an expression on her face.
“I’ll be a language teacher at a primary school. I’ll have summer and winter holidays. It will be leisurely, and there won’t be much to do too.” It seemed that she had already planned out her life in the future. She then schooled her face into a neutral expression and lightly coughed twice. “Student Qin Guanglin, what do you think of Teacher He’s lesson?”
“Hm… You do seem the part.” Qin Guanglin realized that she really seemed like a teacher when she assumed that posture, especially her gaze.
He thought about it before continuing, “But I heard that it’s very tiring to be a teacher. You have to spend all your time making lesson plans, marking homework, and planning the curriculum. It isn’t as leisurely as you say it is.”
“Do you know better, or do I know better?” He Fang rolled her eyes at him. “From now on, I’ll call you Student Qin. You have to call me Teacher He. Let me experience the feeling of being a teacher in advance.”
“I reject that,” Qin Guanglin refused. He was two years older than her. How could he possibly call her teacher? “I’m older than you. You should call me Older Brother Qin instead.”
“Older Brother Qin.” He Fang licked her lips gently and slowly moved closer. “I agree.”
“Don’t. You should call me by my name instead.” Qin Guanglin hastily stopped her.
Why did everything change its flavor when she said it?
“Older brother?” He Fang called out sweetly again.
“Calling me Student Qin is quite nice. I think you can just call me Student Qin.” Qin Guanglin’s ears were red. He had given in.
“Why don’t you give it a shot and call me Teacher He?”
This woman was too good at annoying people.
