You Are My Rare Passion - Chapter 20
Chapter 20: Why Don’t You Guess What Kind of Expression They Will Have?
Due to shame and indignation, her mind had wandered away from their topic. Regaining her senses, she twisted her head to look towards Gu Junzhu, “Since Uncle and Aunt are my biological parents, so the two older brothers in Uncle’s family are my biological brothers?”
Gu Junzhu nodded, “Yes.”
“I have met them before.” Ye Xingbei sank into her memories with a pained expression from disappointment. “They don’t like me either. Whenever they saw me, they were cold and unwilling to speak a word with me.”
“They still didn’t know that you were their biological sister at that time,” Gu Junzhu said. “After your parents died, your two brothers were taken away by your maternal grandparents and even their surname was changed to your grandfather’s. Not only don’t they like you, they aren’t close to any of the other Jiang family members either.”
“Yes,” Ye Xingbei nodded. “When I was in the Jiang family, I once heard someone mention that my… My grandparents only had my Aunt—”
“Your mother!” Gu Junzhu corrected her, “Xu Yanlai doesn’t have the rights to be your mother! Your mother is called Xie Qinyue; she is a good woman. If she were still alive, she would definitely dote on you!”
“Yes, my mother!” Ye Xingbei eyes were a little wet. “After my parents passed away in a car accident, my maternal grandparents brought my two elder brothers to Beijing and changed their surnames to my grandfather’s—named Xie. Because of this, the Xie family and Jiang family had a very unpleasant disagreement and nearly cut off all ties to each other. Only during the holidays would my two older brothers visit the Jiang residence to give my Grandpa gifts out of courtesy.”
“I heard somebody say that my Grandpa used to love my two older brothers very much in the past. However, after they changed their surname to ‘Xie’, he didn’t like them anymore. He thought that they were an embarrassment to the Jiang family, causing him to feel too ashamed to see the Jiang family’s ancestors after his death.”
As Gu Junzhu thought of something, his expression looked contemplative. After a short while, he asked after a short while, “Do you have a good relationship with your Grandpa?”
“Still all right,” Ye Xingbei nodded as she said, “Grandpa is the only person who was nice to me in the Jiang family. He truly dotes on me. When I was driven out of the family, Grandpa was lying in the hospital in a coma due to an illness. Otherwise, that couple, Jiang Zhengxing and Xu Yanlai, wouldn’t dare to treat me that way.”
Gu Junzhu looked at Ye Xingbei and his profound gaze carried a deeper meaning to them. “You should be mentally prepared that your Grandpa may not be as nice as what you see on the surface.”
Slightly taken aback, Ye Xingbei frowned, “What do you mean?”
“It isn’t certain yet so I can’t tell you everything for now.” Gazing towards the close luxurious door of the Jiang family in the near distance, Gu Junzhu said, “This Jiang family has hidden many unknown secrets. As long as you have a mind to, sooner or later, one by one, you will find the answer to all their secrets.”
Ye Xingbei’s back was starting to feel numb from the insinuations in his tone and her brows scrunched up more tightly. “Don’t make things more complicated than they really are. What exactly do you mean?”
Gu Junzhu’s gaze returned to look at her, “What I mean is that concealed under the Jiang family’s splendid exterior are who-knows-how-many vile and despicable secrets. Your Grandpa is a person who is not as irreproachable as your imagination makes him out to be. Perhaps, the largest, hidden Boss behind everything is him!”
“What nonsense are you saying?” Grandpa Jiang was the nicest person to her in the Jiang family so Ye Xingbei did not want to hear this type of baseless conjecture from Gu Junzhu— who was bad-mouthing about Grandpa Jiang.
Gu Junzhu smiled and changed the subject, “No matter how other people are like, Jiang Zhengxing and Xu Yanlai definitely are not good people—including Jiang Siyou and Jiang Lingyu. During that year, these were the people who had gathered to slander and frame you. Have you figured out how to blow off some steam?”
“Of course!” Ye Xingbei twisted her head to look at the Jiang residence outside the car window. She laughed coldly, “Even the heavens are helping me by letting Jiang Siyou and Jiang Lingyu become Star Sect’s contract celebrities. They signed a ten-year contract with Star Sect so during these ten years, they have to listen to me. Whatever I want them to do, they must follow. Is there anything more relieving than that?”
“Yes, there is,” Gu Junzhu looked at her with a smile and spoke firmly. “Jiang Zhengxing and Xu Yanlai sent you over to the Gu family because they thought that I was on the brink of death. They had sent you to us to become a widow for Jiang Siyou and Jiang Lingyu. Say, when you show up in front of them while clinging onto my arm affectionately, they will discover that I’m still very much alive and even fell in love with you at first sight. You are now the daughter-in-law of the first-rate Gu family in Beijing but will not be becoming a widow. Why don’t you guess what kind of expression they will have?”
