You Are My Rare Passion - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: So… The News That Gu Junzhu Was Dying Of Sickness Wasn’t Accurate But Only A Rumor, Was That It?
Ye Xingbei stared at him for a while before her lips gradually burst into a smile—blossoming spectacularly like a Queen of the Night Cactus. “You’re right, this is really great.”
Since she had already teamed up with Gu Junzhu to be a pretend couple.
Why would she relinquish such a great opportunity to borrow Gu Junzhu’s superiority to humiliate the members of the Jiang family?
“Clever!” Gu Junzhu stroked her head once, then alighted from the car first. His body turned around and he extended a hand to her, “Come, baby, be careful. Your hubby will support you as you’re getting off.”
The corner of Ye Xingbei’s mouth twitched and she rolled her eyes once. She had initially thought of ignoring him, but when she saw the guards by the Jiang residence’s entrance, she changed her mind and placed her hand into his palm—using Gu Junzhu’s strength to help herself down the car.
Once her feet reached the ground, Gu Junzhu encircled her waist with his arm and he moved his mouth close to her ear and spoke lightly, “Dear, congratulations for starting a delightful journey back to your parental home. Since you have your husband as your backing today, take care of those people however you wish to. There’s no need to be polite!”
His cool voice was as pleasant to listen to as shattered jade and even carried a few notes of magnetism.
Especially when he lowered the timbre of his voice intentionally and spoke beside her ear, his cool lips rested on the side of her ear and a languid, velvety-like sound slid into her eardrum. As she listened, her heart grew numb and her bones turned somewhat jelly.
Unconsciously, she pushed him lightly but he tightened his arm and embraced her even more snugly.
Pulling and pushing each other, the two of them walked through the Jiang residence’s main entrance in this manner.
In other people’s eyes, they were a pair of loving newlyweds who could not help but show their tender affection to each other without caring about the venue.
Upon receiving the butler’s report, Jiang Zhengxing and Xu Yanlai knew that Gu Junzhu and Ye Xingbei had arrived. They brought their two daughters and two sons out to welcome them.
Originally, as the parent-in-laws, they didn’t need to greet their son-in-law, Gu Junzhu.
Unfortunately, Gu Junzhu’s status exceeded theirs—the Jiang family could not compare to him.
Furthermore, they were harboring a guilty conscience.
If the one whom Gu Junzhu had married was Jiang Siyou or Jiang Lingyu, they wouldn’t need to be this prudent and apprehensive.
However, the one they had married off was Ye Xingbei, so they had to muster all their vigor and be attentive.
They knew better than anyone that Ye Xingbei was not their biological daughter.
Not only wasn’t Ye Xingbei their biological daughter, they had also slandered and framed her that year due to a groundless accusation—chasing her out of the Jiang family.
If the Gu family hadn’t needed a person to marry—and become a widow for the Jiang family—they would never consider Ye Xingbei and let her return from abroad!
After hearing the butler’s report that Gu Junzhu had accompanied Ye Xingbei back to their house, they were flabbergasted.
It had been reported that Gu Junzhu was already dying from his illness and only had a few days left to live.
Although the Jiang City had a custom where if the newlywed bride didn’t return to her parental home after three days, nothing would go smoothly for both her parents’ home and husband’s family, they had thought that the Gu family would casually appoint a person to send Ye Xingbei back.
Never in a million years did they think that the rumored Gu Junzhu—on his deathbed—would personally accompany Ye Xingbei back to her parental home.
Moreover, according to the butler’s report, Gu Junzhu wasn’t sitting in a wheelchair. He had walked into the residence and his complexion looked rather good!
What was going on here?
Didn’t they say that Gu Junzhu was on the brink of death?
How did this happen?
Confused and doubtful, each of Jiang Zhengxing’s family members was pondering over their own thoughts as they appeared as a group to welcome them.
Jiang Siyou and Jiang Lingyu followed alongside Jiang Zhengxing and Xu Yanlai. Seeing the tall, graceful and noble Gu Junzhu walking leisurely towards them with his arm around Ye Xingbei’s slender waist, both of them opened their eyes wide in astonishment and their hearts pounded wildly. They could not believe what they were seeing in front of them.
Didn’t they say that Gu Junzhu was bedridden from an illness? Even if he occasionally appeared, he would be sitting in a wheelchair, withering away his numbered days, wasn’t he about to die soon?
So, what was this situation now?
Although that peerlessly handsome face of Gu Junzhu’s did look a little sickly pale, that complexion only added some notes of a noble aura from an aristocracy of the Middle Ages.
From a distance, he was aristocratic as a monarch, handsome as a heavenly god and dazzling as if he carried his own radiance. Aside from Ye Xingbei next to him, everything else faded into their background as a drab contrast and was obscured by their breathtaking beauty.
As Jiang Siyou and Jiang Lingyu looked at that man—aristocratic as a monarch and handsome as a god—embracing Ye Xingbei’s slim waist while walking towards them, their faces drained out of color.
So, the news that Gu Junzhu was dying of sickness wasn’t accurate but only a rumor, was that it?
