Gu Xiao Xiao slowly opened her eyes and walked behind Chu Xiao Xi as they went to their room. By the time she woke up the next morning, Chu Xiao Xi was already gone.
After eating a bit, she left in a haste. The moment she arrived at her office, she buried herself in her busy work. Because her English was still better in comparison to her fellow interns, large amounts of materials ended up on her desk. By the time she was done in the afternoon, English alphabets were floating around in Gu Xiao Xiao’s brain.
“What do I do…” Gu Xiao Xiao mumbled to herself. She had only finished a third of her work and her boss had asked her to finish everything before she got off tomorrow.
There was no alternative. Gu Xiao Xiao gritted her teeth and stuffed the materials into her bag and went home in a hurry. Unexpectedly, when she opened the door, the condo was still empty. After searching around for a while, she still couldn’t find Chu Xiao Xi. She tried calling but Chu Xiao Xi’s phone was off. Gu Xiao Xiao thought about it and decided to go cook first.
When Chu Yi Chen came by, Gu Xiao Xiao was still preparing. He took a peek at Gu Xiao Xiao and he returned to the living room. After seeing the documents that belonged to Feng Yang, he flipped them open to take a peek.
“Ah! You can’t look!”
Gu Xiao Xiao caught Chu Yi Chen and out of reflex, dashed over. She snatched the folder out of Chu Yi Chen’s hand. Her speedy movements stunned Chu Yi Chen a little.
“This is information from my company, I cannot show others,” Gu Xiao Xiao said seriously.
Chu Yi Chen peered at her and raised an eyebrow while he smiled. “Alright, I won’t look.”
Chu Yi Chen’s casual and at ease smile made Gu Xiao Xiao realize her actions just now was a little embarrassing. She returned to the kitchen and silently placed the cooked food onto the dining table. Then, she called Chu Xiao Xi’s cell again.
“Chu Xiao Xi has errands and left. She won’t return for around three days.” Chu Yi Chen sat down at the table and eyed the text Chu Xiao Xi just sent him. He then said to Gu Xiao Xiao, “Your English is decent. When you get the time, translate some stuff for me.”
“Sure, just call me up when you need me.”
Gu Xiao Xiao still wasn’t that comfortable hanging out alone with Chu Yi Chen. The room was silent and she used the fastest speed possible to finish her meal before she returned to the living room to finish her work.
Within the document, an unfamiliar jargon troubled Gu Xiao Xiao. She pondered hard over its meaning and her left hand subconsciously turned into a fist that softly hit her own head. This was a habit she developed. Chu Yi Chen watched how hard she was working and walked over.
He leaned down and asked in a low voice, “What don’t you get?”
“Here.” Gu Xiao Xiao circled a word and looked over to Chu Yi Chen.
Long and lean fingers took over Gu Xiao Xiao’s pen. Chu Yi Chen nonchalantly wrote down a few words and then smiled without leaving a trail.
“I have a few documents. Help me translate them. I need them and it’s a rush.” Chu Yi Chen responded, “Because it’s a project involving your company, it doesn’t matter if you read it. I need it by next Monday. Tomorrow I need to fly to Shanghai and I won’t return until the next night. So…”
“Alright, alright. Just leave them to me.” Gu Xiao Xiao easily accepted. However, when she saw how thick those documents were, the color of her face changed.
“This… when did you get your hands on this.”
“A week ago. I have translated most of it. I am leaving you the other half.”
“One week?!” Gu Xiao Xiao inhaled deeply, “Our boss is far too inhumane!”
