Chapter 41: Gu Xiao Xiao is an Honest Child

After getting out of the taxi, Gu Xiao Xiao walked in the front with her suitcase. After passing by a small valley, they arrived at a small community.

The community isn’t big and the buildings weren’t built in recent years. Though it was winter and the weather was cold, there were many groups of seniors chatting together in groups. Some were playing cards on the stone tables on the side.

Hearing the scratching noises of suitcases against the ground, everyone looked back. After catching a glimpse of Gu Xiao Xiao, these people were all smiles.

“Aye, isn’t that Xiao Xiao? How come she is coming back so early this year!”

“That young woman sure is getting prettier and prettier!”

“Xiao Xiao, you brought a friend home? When you get the chance, come to grandma Zhang’s! I will cook you delicious food!”

The moment Gu Xiao Xiao walked into the community, she was surrounded by these seniors. Chu Xiao Xi has never seen a formation like this and therefore was a little stunned as she stood by Gu Xiao Xiao. She watched her as she joked with this group of seniors and she was looking over them with much respect and care in her eyes. Chu Xiao Xi found Gu Xiao Xiao to be very good at this.

After some time, Gu Xiao Xiao carried her suitcase into a building and stopped when she reached the third floor.

She rang the doorbell and the door opened.

Shen Qian Yun opened up and saw Gu Xiao Xiao, who was standing at the door with a blossoming smile, as well as Chu Xiao Xi, who was standing behind her. She hurriedly greeted them inside.

“Grandma!” Entering, Chu Xiao Xi said sweetly, “I am Xiao Xiao’s friend. My name is Chu Xiao Xi. You can call me Xiao Xi.”

“Alright, alright, come inside. The food’s on the table, it’s all still hot.” Shen Qian Yun looked at these two with a huge grin and nodded.

After taking off their jackets and washing their hands, Gu Xiao Xiao sat by the dinner table and stared directly at the plate of sweet and sour ribs before her.

“Grandma, you can’t even imagine how much I longed for your ribs. I have been craving them to death!” Picking up her chopsticks, Gu Xiao Xiao picked up a sparerib and placed it in Shen Qian Yun’s bowl. Then, she got Chu Xiao Xi one, before getting herself one.

After taking a bite, Gu Xiao Xiao inhaled deeply and exclaimed, “Grandma’s cooking is the best after all!”

“You little girl has such a sweet mouth.” Shen Qian Yun smiled helplessly, “So what you are saying, is that those Michelin star chefs are not as good as me?”

“They cannot even compare!” Chu Xiao Xi interrupted from the side, “Xiao Xiao is already good at cooking. She told me that compared to you, she only scratched the surface. I didn’t believe her back then but today, I realize that Xiao Xiao is an honest child!”

Gu Xiao Xiao and Chu Xiao Xi had several exchanges that made Shen Qian Yun laugh. They finished the meal in a happy atmosphere. Then, Gu Xiao Xiao brought Chu Xiao Xi back into her room and turned on the computer.

Chu Xiao Xi checked out Gu Xiao Xiao’s room. Then, she fell backward and lied down onto her bed.

“Aye, I am so full.” She rubbed her belly and was attacked by pure exhaustion. She couldn’t even keep her eyes open.

Gu Xiao Xiao turned her head and saw her rubbing her eyes, “Take a nap if you are tired.”

“No.” Chu Xiao Xi rolled around once and got up again, “Just got an email. I have something to do.”

The two sat in the room, each facing a computer, as they occupied themselves. Shen Qian Yun entered to give them fruits and then sighed, “You kids! You cannot separate yourselves from the computer!”

“Then, I’ll stop. Grandma, let’s chat for a while!” Gu Xiao Xiao got up and walked out with Shen Qian Yun on her arms. “Xiao Xi has to work. Let her be.”

After getting to the living room, Gu Xiao Xiao leaned against Shen Qian Yun and sat there in silence. She truly had so much she wanted to say but she didn’t know how to begin.
