Chapter 49: Don’t try to Threaten me like this

“Hello.” Gu Xiao Xiao nodded gently and greeted them. The strange way they looked at her was a little unnatural.

“You fella sure are lucky with girls, you have such a pretty junior.” Zhang Lei smiled meaningfully and said to Xi Wen Chong, “How come I am not as lucky as you.”

“You should repeat what you are saying before your girlfriend.” Xi Wen Chong attacked back with a soft smile, helping Gu Xiao Xiao out.

Gu Xiao Xiao warms up slowly. When she is with people she’s not familiar with, she doesn’t have much to talk about. So during this meal, other than Xi Wen Chong and the guys asking her questions, she spent all her time eating in silence and listening to them joking around.

After the meal, Gu Xiao Xiao and Xi Wen Chong went back to their cubicles. When they were parting, Gu Xiao Xiao took out her wallet and was about to pay Xi Wen Chong back.

“Xiao Xiao,” looking at the money in her hand, Xi Wen Chong’s eyes darkened, “it was just a meal, can you not be so formal with me.”

“But…” Gu Xiao Xiao never liked owing people things. She pursed her lips and then said, “We should split this.”

“Aye.” Xi Wen Chong sighed, not knowing what to do with her. “I am not going to take the money. If you want to pay me back, then treat me to a meal next time.”

After speaking, he smiled at Gu Xiao Xiao and turned around to leave. Gu Xiao Xiao watched him go and only turned to go back to her office after a long while.

Because of what happened this morning, everyone was looking at Gu Xiao Xiao weird. She sat in her seat, used her computer to refer to some resources and occasionally marked down some notes. Only at 3 in the afternoon, when it was time for the meeting, did she get up to go to the meeting room.

There were three people chosen for the projects from marketing. Other than Gu Xiao Xiao, there was Zhang Yan Li and an older employee, Huang Qi.

Once she arrived at the meeting room, Gu Xiao Xiao unexpectedly found Xi Wen Chong here. Similarly, when Xi Wen Chong saw Gu Xiao Xiao, he was a little surprised as well.

Everyone sat down in their seats. The last one to enter was Xu Ming. He was responsible for today’s meeting and apparently the list of chosen employees was made by him as well.

The meeting went on for around an hour. In the end, Xu Ming sent everyone a thick pile of information. Gu Xiao Xiao opened the folder and found it be familiar. The more she read on, the more she felt like she’s seen this before. After thinking for a while, she realized these are the documents Chu Yi Chen asked her to translate from before.

A day passed by busily. Gu Xiao Xiao cleaned up her things and looked over at the time before rushing downstairs to head to the North River Community.

She arrived huffing and puffing, then she rang the doorbell.

“Miss Gu, you came.”

“Aunty Zhang, Zi Xuan is home right?”

“He is upstairs and a little impatient from waiting. Go right up.”

Gu Xiao Xiao took off her shoes and went upstairs. The door was open so she entered straight away and closed the door behind her. Looking at the person who was playing games lying on his bed, she coughed twice, “It’s time for our lesson!”

Wang Zi Xuan tilted his head mindlessly and glared at her. As if he didn’t hear her, he continued to play his game.

“Wang Zi Xuan.” Gu Xiao Xiao walked over and took the Gameboy from his hand. Her gaze met his unhappy one and she said, “Do you want to start our lesson or do you want me to leave right now?”

“Don’t try to threaten me like this,” Wang Zi Xuan hissed and continued to look directly at Gu Xiao Xiao. Then he asked, “Why didn’t you come last week?”
