Chapter 47: Secret Relationship, Got It?
Chi Huan’s sipping the soybean milk paused. She didn’t look up at him and just said, “Isn’t it because you raped me?”
The man responded in a flat tone, “No.”
“…”
Who asked him about anything? She was answering his question, okay?
She continued with her soybean milk. Mo Shiqian didn’t ask her again.
Hearing the mild vibration of her phone in the living room, Chi Huan raised her chin a little and ordered the man who was sitting across the table, “Go and bring me my phone.”
He gave her a look and stood up without saying a word.
The call was from Sister Yao, Chi Huan’s agent.
Chi Huan slid the screen to pick up the phone. “You are back from Australia, sister?”
Chi Huan sounded sweet but Sister Yao was furious. “Chi Huan, I tried so hard to talk you out of the early marriage, yet you refused my suggestion. Now all the media are reporting about your wedding. You are so dead if you tell me that the wedding is canceled.”
The agent was usually the first one to oppose an early marriage when a young artist had boundless prospects like Chi Huan. She listed tons of reasons why she shouldn’t get married, but it wasn’t helpful since Young Miss Chi was willful.
After Chi Huan announced that she was going to take a half-years break, Sister Yao had no other way even if she was outrageous. Then she realized it meant that she had a long break, too. So she jumped on a flight and travelled around the world. She didn’t come back until last night, for today’s wedding.
Chi Huan tilted her head a little and put down the soybean milk. “Sister Yao, how did you know that I’m not getting married?”
“Are you saying you don’t know yet?”
“Don’t know what?”
“I heard from my bosom friend who’s a reporter, that Mo Xigu is having a press conference suddenly. It’s a last minute decision. Almost all mainstream media have been invited. Don’t you know about it?”
Chi Huan lowered her eyes and didn’t say anything.
Sister Yao didn’t get her answer, so she raised her voice, “You are dumped? On your wedding day?”
Chi Huan curled her lips into a faint smile and said flatly, “It’s better to get dumped before the wedding than after, or I would be a divorced woman for nothing, right?”
Sister Yao, “…”
“Mo Xigu canceled the wedding himself and didn’t tell you?”
“Sister Yao, please help me find out where the press conference will be held.”
“Huan’er,” Sister Yao’s voice turned low, and then she said immediately without hesitation, “Hold your impulsiveness. I’ll get our PR team to create a way out.”
“Don’t bother. I know how to deal with this. Just tell me the address. If you don’t do me this favor… I’ll call someone else.”
“Chi Huan…”
“Bye bye, I’ll be waiting for your news.”
She hung up the phone, before Sister Yao could reply.
She raised her head and looked into Mo Shiqian’s deep and indifferent eyes. “Get ready. Send me to the press conference later.”
The man stared at her for a few seconds. “Okay.”
Then Chi Huan went back into the cloakroom to change her clothes, while Mo Shiqian was waiting for her in the living room.
The doorbell soon rang again.
The errand boy who was thrown out by Mo Shiqian came back with a bag in his hand. “Well… Seventh Brother asked if you need this?”
Mo Shiqian frowned after he glanced at the item in the bag, but then he took it anyways and then he gave the order, “Send someone to find out about Mo Xigu’s press conference, and keep an eye on Su Yabing and Yang Hao.”
“Yes, Fifth Brother. Anything else?”
“No. Go get those two things done.”
Chi Huan picked out an outfit in the cloakroom and then spent more than an hour on makeup.
The tall man leaned against the door frame. His dark eyes followed her all the time when she put on the lipstick. She chose a red coat and then picked up a scarf.
The temperature had dropped suddenly today, it was already winter.
She put on the coat and handed the scarf to him. “You are taller. It’s more convenient for you to put the scarf on for me.”
“Hmm.” He took the scarf and put it around her neck and her long hair. Half of her jaw was covered by the scarf.
Chi Huan looked up at his perfectly shaped chin. “Do I look beautiful today?”
“Yes.”
She gently kicked him, complaining, “Yes? You didn’t even look at me.”
Because he was helping her with the scarf, he kept his head down. His breath brushed upon her ears and neck every now and then. His voice was slightly hoarse. “I’ve been standing here too long.”
Chi Huan then shut her mouth and waited for him to finish.
She chose a purse that matched her outfit and took something from the study. When she was putting on her shoes, the man sitting at the tea table looked at her with his dark eyes and said to her in a low voice, “Have this before you go.”
She walked towards him with her purse in her hand and looked down at the things on the tea table.
There was a glass of water and a white pill.
Chi Huan mocked him, “You are quite experienced.”
There was a moment of silence. Then the man said, “It’s common sense.”
“What if I don’t take it?”
His tone didn’t change. “Okay. But if you are pregnant, you have to deliver the baby. You can’t choose an abortion.”
“Will you raise the baby?”
“Certainly.”
Chi Huan looked at his pretty face and she really didn’t know what he was thinking.
He seemed to be super responsible. Once she slept with him, she could be together with him and if they had a child, he would raise the child. She guessed his answer would be yes if she asked him to marry her. However, this really made her feel very uncomfortable in her heart.
Because, obviously, he would hold the same responsible attitude to any woman.
Even to his fiancée, who was said to have grown up with him, his attitude wouldn’t be any different.
She had no idea why she was talking about nonsense with him. Even if he would love to raise the baby, she would not have one. There was no such good thing for him.
Putting down the purse, she bent to take the pill and the water without hesitation.
After taking the pill, she put the glass on the tea table heavily, making a loud noise.
Mo Shiqian looked at her with his eyes narrowed. She put down the glass and went out without any expression on her face.
Was she… upset?
…
Sister Yao had already sent her the address. The press conference was being held in the cathedral where they were supposed to have their wedding.
Since Chi Huan got into the car, she had been looking outside the window, staring at the changing streetscape. She was quiet and didn’t seem to look sad or angry.
She didn’t seem to show any expression at all.
Mo Xigu’s press conference was scheduled an hour before the wedding was supposed to be. Reporters were already there. Moreover, more than half of the guests who had prepared to come for the wedding were there as well.
The man had been driving quietly. He suddenly smiled and said to her in a low voice, “You want to take me to Mo Xigu to piss him off?”
Chi Huan turned her head suddenly and her perfectly penciled eyebrows furrowed a little. “I forgot to tell you that if someone asks about you later, tell them you are my bodyguard. Don’t tell them you are my…”
Mo Shiqian raised his eyebrows a bit. “Your what?”
“Don’t tell anyone about our relationship. You are still my bodyguard in front of others. This is a secret relationship, got it?”
