Chapter 13: Return to Glimmer City

“A Unicorn? Hmm… Wait a minute, it seems to be injured?”
Originally apprehensive, Li Jiye now realized that there seemed to be a very narrow wound on the back of this snow-white Unicorn. The wound was deep and clearly visible, and extended along its waist. Crystal-clear pinkish blood beads were dripping from the wound at the moment.
The Unicorn also seemed surprised to see a human here in the dense forest. A few sparks of electric light lit up in its golden eyes, and the single horn on its forehead began to gradually gush with some elemental waves.
Considering his experience in dealing with demonic beasts, Li Jiye could tell at a glance that this Unicorn was an arrow at the end of its flight. Even if it could use its elemental energy now, it wouldn’t be much of a blow to him.
“I know that with your wisdom, you should probably understand my words… Don’t worry, I mean no harm…”
He raised his hands and made a funny surrendering gesture, but after realizing that the Unicorn probably didn’t understand this gesture, he slowly and verbally stated his goodwill.
Tier 3 demonic beasts possessed a certain degree of wisdom and could usually discern the words of humans. Sure enough, after hearing Li Jiye’s words, the multi-colored brilliance and electric light on its horn slowly converged.
Not all demonic beasts were hostile to humans. At least as far as he learned from Polar Star Academy, the Orcs and demonic beasts to the east of the Demonic Beast Mountain Range were mostly friendly to humans. Even the Tauren tribe who had hunted Li Jiye before had several members sympathetic to humans.
Unicorns were recorded as auspicious creatures in books because of their unique affinity with a sacred element. Many lost or severely injured humans have been rescued by one or more Unicorns in the Demonic Beast Mountain Range. The sacred element independent of the five basic elements not only had a purifying ability but also a certain degree of medical effect.
This was why Li Jiye didn’t hunt it despite it being injured.
When the Unicorn gradually let go of its hostility, Li Jiye nodded slightly at it. He cautiously approached it and then took out two bottles of primary healing potion.
Healing potions were extracted from herbs that grew in nature, after all. The medicinal properties were useful not only to humans but could also partly heal demonic beasts. If he left this severely injured Unicorn alone, he was afraid it would only die of excessive blood loss.
When Li Jiye opened the cork of the healing potion, the Unicorn already recognized it as beneficial for itself. Its gaze at Li Jiye gradually softened.
The effectiveness of the healing potion was diminished on demonic beasts as compared to humans. Li Jiye simply sprinkled all the potion on the Unicorn’s shiny silver fur. It seemed to shiver slightly where the potion touched its wound. Noticing this, Li Jiye hurriedly reached out and gently caressed it, soothing it.
“Don’t worry. I prepared this healing potion by myself two days ago, and the medicinal materials were very fresh. I think it’ll be much more effective than your natural rate of recovery. The hinterland of the Demonic Beast Mountain Range is way too dangerous. The tor in the north side was originally the Terra Bear’s territory, but I defeated it after it attacked me. You can go to the tor for recuperation.”
A glimmer appeared in the Unicorn’s golden eyes when it heard this. It lowered its head and nodded a few times, seemingly indicating its understanding.
Li Jiye smiled slightly when he saw this but then he stared at his hand in a daze.
Wait a minute…
His replication skill had just finished cooling down!
The sacred element of a Unicorn was an extremely rare skill. This was a golden opportunity for him!
As this thought flashed through his mind in an instant, he touched the hoof of the Unicorn, and a glimmer flashed in front of him. Within a second, a voice sounded in his mind.
“Ding! Congratulations on your successful replication of the A-level skill, Divine Blessing!”
Li Jiye was over the moon. His original intention had been to replicate a Tier 3 demonic beast’s B-level skill, and he would have never expected to encounter an injured Unicorn!
The A-level and C-level skills were worlds apart. With the Divine Blessing skill, Li Jiye couldn’t help but feel more confident about his future.
A few days later, he returned to Glimmer City. The purpose of his trip had been achieved, and he had even acquired the pharmacy skill. With all these in his pocket, he had no need to stay in the Demonic Beast Mountain Range.
People came and went in Glimmer City while humans and Orcs mingled with one another. Li Jiye found an exchange point and took out many magic cores from his storage bag, which shocked the staff at the trading station.
There were more than twenty Tier 2 magic cores and countless Tier 1 magic cores. This trip he made to the Demonic Beast Mountain Range had him rolling in money.
“Clink, clink…”
Several mercenaries at the side stared at Li Jiye enviously. The number of gold coins received for these magic cores would be equivalent to a difficult mission for them.
Grinning, Li Jiye nodded at the mercenaries and fell into deep thought. He decided to find a hotel to rest for the day and then return to Polar Star City. He guessed that his parents and sister would be delighted to see the amount of money he earned.
However, just as he was finalizing his plans, he realized that several Taurens had already surrounded him without him noticing.
Wait a minute…
Taurens?
Taken aback, he hurriedly surveyed his surroundings. Indeed, a total of six Taurens were approaching him.
“Shit… They must have recognized me…”
Glancing at the storage bag hanging at his waist, he muttered a curse under his breath. The group of Taurens he had met in the Demonic Beast Mountain Range actually entered Glimmer City? This was really unexpected.
He squeezed his fists and quickly sped up his footsteps, trying to lose them in the densely-populated alleyways. Unfortunately, the group of Taurens ignored the humans on the streets and pursued him unrelentingly.
Li Jiye turned a corner and paused. An unusually strong figure appeared in front of him.
“I didn’t expect you to escape the Terra Bear’s territory… Hehe. But you have no chance of surviving this time.”
The Tauren leader emerged from the shadows, a bright red cloth wrapped around his horns. At this moment, he had already blocked off Li Jiye’s escape route and was staring at him with burning eyes and a hot snorting nose.
